Games of the Week

Mavs Gaming 74, Warriors Gaming Squad 72: The outcome appeared to be decided by halftime, with WGS picking up where they left off at THE TICKET in surging out to a 19-point advantage. But little by little, Mavs Gaming chipped away at the lead, pulling within three points late in the third quarter. It would stay tight the rest of the way before GRANT MONSTER, in his first appearance of the season, slammed home what would be the go-ahead basket with just over a minute to play as Dallas escaped with an improbable victory in their doubleheader opener.

Pacers Gaming 57, Wizards District Gaming: 55: Every game is a seemingly must-win at this point for WDG, who entered riding a three-game win streak. They fell behind early only to use a third-quarter spurt to make it a game, mainly because of their ability to keep Ramo somewhat in check. But the Pacers Gaming big man still came up large at the end, as he’s apt to do, hitting a short shot in the paint with 1.3 seconds left to break a tie game. With no timeouts remaining, Washington was forced to settle for a long 3-point attempt by ReeseDaGod that bounced off the iron.

Nets GC 71, Heat Check Gaming 66: This one was a showdown of two evenly-matched teams in desperate need of wins to improve their chances of staying in the playoff race. It played out as expected, with each squad responding to the other’s runs. The difference ended up being Wavy, who poured in a game-high 30 points as the spark plug of the offense, including some clutch late free-throws to keep Nets GC out in front. On the other side, the new-look Heat Check lineup showed flashes of promise, but the result was an all-too-familiar narrow defeat of late, their sixth in a row.

Celtics Crossover Gaming 81, Mavs Gaming 58: The matchup proved to be better than the outcome, with CLTX Gaming coasting to the win that sent their counterparts to just their second loss of the season. While Mavs Gaming were clearly not at their best in this one, the win says a lot more about Boston, which put together its fifth consecutive victory in an overall team performance. They made 15 3-pointers and were patient in spreading the floor, and now find themselves sitting at seventh in the standings.

Outstanding Performances

Dimez (25 points, 10 assists) and PeteBeBallin (27 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals), Mavs Gaming vs Warriors Gaming Squad: This duo had the two-man game working, combining for 52 of Mavs Gaming’s 74 points in their epic come-from-behind win. Dimez sparked the comeback with some deft outside shooting in making five 3-pointers, while Pete hit 12 of 15 shots on the way to a game high in points.

ProFusion, Celtics Crossover Gaming (35 points, 7 3FGM) vs Warriors Gaming Squad and (30 points, 6 steals, 6 3FGM) vs Mavs Gaming: His first outing was a vintage early-season performance by ProFusion, who has been one of the league’s top shooters this year. He led the way in the rout of WGS, nailing seven shots from distance in helping his squad rack up 92 points. He followed it up with 30 more points the next day in a win over Mavs Gaming.

oFAB, Celtics Crossover Gaming (27 points, 12 assists, 2 steals) vs Warriors Gaming Squad and (23 points, 13 assists, 2 steals) vs Mavs Gaming: He’s creeping up in the MVP conversation, not just for his superb individual play, which was fully on display in a doubleheader sweep, but also because he’s now lifted his squad to five straight wins. He’s currently first in the league in assists and second in scoring.

Yusef_Scarbz, Kings Guard Gaming (23 points, 7 3FGM, 6 steals) vs Lakers Gaming: He sometimes gets lost in the shuffle as his team’s fourth scoring option, but Yusef got the shine he deserves following his best performance of the season. He led the way in points in part to seven makes from distance and was a menace on the other end in finishing with 6 takeaways.

Plondo, Bucks Gaming (28 points, 9 steals, 4 assists) vs Lakers Gaming: The Rookie of the Year candidate was back to his dominant self, leading three players who poured in over 20 points in the blowout win. More impressive than his scoring was his active defense, as he nearly notched double-digit steals.

Wavy.zay, Nets GC (30 points, 9 assists) vs Heat Check Gaming: He ran the point early in the season, only to give way to Lav, who thrived in the role. But Nets GC went back to Wavy, who exploded with an eye-popping performance that included hitting four 3-pointers and committing just four TOs in the first of two wins this week.

Lotty, Jazz Gaming (31 points, 7 3FGM) vs Pistons GT: It was quite a debut weekend for Lotty, who exploded for a season-high in points in his second game with Jazz Gaming. Playing primarily as a lockdown defender in his time with Heat Check Gaming, Lotty looked right at home as a secondary ball handler with his new team.
