Games of the Week

Cavs Legion GC 65, T-Wolves Gaming 64: It’ll be hard to find a better comeback than this. Trailing by 16 points midway through the fourth quarter with the game looking all but decided, Cavs Legion put the clamps on T-Wolves Gaming to set up a frenzied finish. Down three points with 22 seconds left, a steal turned into an easy layup for Strainer to cut it to one. On the ensuing possession, All Hail Trey tipped the in-bounds pass and leaked out as oLARRY grabbed the ball and fed it up court, where Trey slammed home the game-winner with 0.9 seconds remaining to complete the seemingly improbable comeback.

76ers GC 74, Mavs Gaming 68: All good things must come to an end. A couple of hours after running their league-record winning streak to open a season to 10, Mavs Gaming suffered their first setback of the year. It came at the hands of a desperate 76ers GC squad, who were already coming off a loss this week and in danger being dealt a huge blow in keeping afloat in the playoff race. The tide turned following an even first half when 76ers GC outscored Mavs Gaming 22-15 in the third. Dallas had no answer for ZDS, who flirted with the season scoring record in finishing with 39 points.

Blazer5 Gaming 66, Pacers Gaming 52: As exciting as the first portion was of this highly anticipated showdown between a pair of top-five teams in the standings, the excitement was all but dissipated down the stretch. A hotly contested affair full of trash talk from both sides morphed into a comfortable Blazer5 Gaming lead, largely in part to an 18-6 advantage in the third quarter. Mama Im Dat Man, the reigning Intel Player of the Week, poured in 30 points, coming just shy of his season high in another outstanding offensive performance amid Blazer5’s current tear.

Mavs Gaming 69, Kings Guard Gaming 40: Mavs Gaming entered on a nine-game winning streak. Kings Guard Gaming had won six straight themselves. As good as the matchup looked on paper, the final score wasn’t pretty. A hot start quickly became a flood in favor of Dallas. Dimez (29 points) and PeteBeBallin (11 points, 14 rebounds) figure to draw most of the headlines, but the unheralded star of the game was Sherm. The rookie shooting guard locked up BP, holding one of the league’s top point guards to just 7 points on 3 of 13 shooting.

Warriors Gaming 52, Pacers Gaming 47: The points figured to be hard to come by when these two defensive-minded squads met in a battle top-five teams in standings that match up extremely well on paper. It resulted in a grit-n-grind affair that saw WGS come out victorious despite not scoring over 15 points in any quarter. Pacers Gaming were done in by a stagnant offense that combined for just 16 points over the second and fourth quarters. Both teams suffered losses in their second games this week but sit just a .5 game apart in the upper tier of the standings.

Outstanding Performances

ZDS, 76ers GC (39 points, 3 steals, 9 3FGM) vs Mavs Gaming: When you’re hot, you’re hot. ZDS was simply on fire in this one, knocking down shots from any spot on the floor, whether he was wide open or had a hand in his face. 76ers GC needed every bit of his 39 points in pulling off the upset against previously unbeaten Mavs Gaming.

Reizey, Magic Gaming (20 points, 15 assists, 4 3FGM) vs 76ers GC: Have yourself a week, Reizey. The rookie point guard averaged 20.5 PPG and 12.5 APG and nailed 9 total 3-pointers in guiding his squad to a pair of victories. He was far and away the best point guard on the court against 76ers, thoroughly outplaying Radiant in a dominant win.

Dimez, Mavs Gaming (29 points, 10 assists) vs Kings Guard Gaming: Dimez’s revenge tour rode on in impressive fashion. Last year’s top overall pick continued to silence his critics with a huge outing against former teammate BallLikeSeem and Kings Guard Gaming. He did it shooting an efficient 13 of 16 from the floor while committing only 4 turnovers.

Dat Boy Shotz, Hawks Talon GC (33 points) vs Warriors Gaming Squad: No one plays the post-scoring build like Shotz does. He single-handedly dictated the offensive flow, finishing just seven points shy of personally outscoring the entire WGS squad for the game. His season-high effort helped keep Hawks Talon in the thick of the playoff race.

oFAB, Celtics Crossover Gaming (24 points, 17 assists, 3 steals) vs Knicks Gaming: Don’t look now, but oFab and CLTX Gaming have found their groove. He averaged 23.5 PPG and 15.0 APG over a pair of victories this week. Fab came close to notching his first 20-20 game of the season in the second affair, diming up his teammates all across the court on the way to his team’s third straight win.

oLARRY, Cavs Legion GC (6 points, 14 assists, 8 steals, 2 blocks): This is one of the most unconventional stat-lines you will see from a center. Larry was dishing out assists like a point guard and jumping in the passing lanes like a forward in an all-around performance. He continued his solid week with 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the team’s nightcap.

Kenny, Raptors Uprising GC (27 points, 5 assists, 6 steals, 5 3FGM) vs Grizz Gaming: One game after moving over to power forward, Kenny was back at his natural spot on the wing. He responded with one of his better performances of the season, leading his team in scoring while also being a menace on the defensive end with 6 steals.

OneWildWalnut, Blazer5 Gaming (21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals) vs Pacers Gaming: He wasn’t even the highest scorer on his own team in this one, that would be Mama Im Dat Man with 30 points, but Walnut won the battle in the paint against Ramo and Lord Beezus in a game that wasn’t really in doubt after halftime. He was active in the passing lanes, notching 5 steals in helping shut down Pacers Gaming’s offense.
