NBA 2K League Power Rankings: Week 5 - NBA 2K League

NBA 2K League Power Rankings: Week 5

Once again, there is a new No. 1 team, and their faces are familiar. The defending champions have gone Super Saiyan on the league, and they begin this week’s power rankings. Regular season games will resume on July 7th after the league-wide bye week.

1. Wizards District Gaming (11-3)

After a sweep over Grizz Gaming, WDG is on a 7-game win streak, and they have easily earned the top spot in this week’s power rankings. The defending champions are approaching their top form. They have a league-best 9.5 average point differential, which is tops in the league.

2. Pacers Gaming (13-5)

At this point, 630 would be my choice for Rookie of the Year and MVP. Pacers Gaming remains steady close to the top of the standings and power rankings, but they are missing the dominant week over quality teams, and that has kept them out of my top spot.

3. Grizz Gaming (10-4)

A tough 1-3 week sent Grizz Gaming plummeting out of the top spot after a short stay. WDG swept them and then they split with 76ers GC. GG will be fine long-term, but they came back down to Earth a bit in Week 5.

4. T-Wolves Gaming (9-5)

Speaking of rough weeks, T-Wolves looked nearly unbeatable through the first 3 weeks of the season, but after a 1-3 Week 5 which included being swept by Cavs Legion GC, there is some work to be done.

5. Hornets Venom GT (10-4)

The bye week might have been what HVGT needed. We’ll find out for sure after their series with Grizz Gaming on Wednesday.

6. Nets GC (11-7)

A perfect week for the Nets? It happened, albeit against the seemingly lost Celtics Crossover Gaming squad, but it all counts. No team has played as often as Nets GC, and they will get a much-needed breather in Week 6 before returning for the cross-town rivalry with Knicks Gaming and a series vs. Heat Check Gaming in Week 7.

7. Heat Check Gaming (8-8)

While they had their seven-game win streak snapped in their final contest of the week vs. Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai, you have to honor the play we’ve seen from SAV and the rest of HCG. I know he only played two games, but SAV is my pick for Player of the Week. He averaged 44.5 points per game including a 45-pt, 9-asst, and one turnover performance in the win over the Tigers.

8. Warriors Gaming Squad (8-6)

It feels as if WGS has what it takes to knock off any team in the league, but turnovers are a major issue for this team. Their 6.29 giveaways per game is the sixth-highest total in the league. They have to clean that up to start stringing some wins together.

9. Jazz Gaming (7-7)

All .500 records are not created equal. HCG is on a crazy run. Their 8-8 mark seems indicative of a team on the rise. On the other hand, Jazz Gaming’s 7-up and 7-down feels more like evidence of a team struggling to find consistency.

10. 76ers GC (7-5)

If defense wins championships, 76ers GC has a chance. Walnut, Steez and UnderratedGoat do a solid job setting the standard on that end of the floor, but the team is missing the offensive punch Radiant used to provide. They just made a trade to acquire ARooks from the Bucks. The results were hit and miss in Week 5, but it may take a few games for them to find their stride. If ARooks can partner well with Dre, we might see 76ers GC start to rise.

11. Kings Guard Gaming (8-6)

It was a good week for KGG. Mama I’m Dat Man and Co. swept his former team Blazer5 Gaming and split with Jazz Gaming. Might we be seeing some consistency coming from this team?

12. Pistons GT (7-5)

Greenlight’s absence was felt on the virtual court, but Radiant showed his versatility and talent in helping push the team to a pair of splits over Pacers Gaming and Mavs Gaming. Greenlight’s availability moving forward is important to this team’s long-term outlook.

13. Magic Gaming (8-6)

Reizey was fantastic this week in helping MG to a perfect 4-0 record. It was a much-needed resurgence for him and the squad.

14. Blazer5 Gaming (6-8)

Despite Bash’s play on both sides of the floor and Goofy’s steadiness, this is a team that appears to be stuck on the treadmill. The 1-3 Week 5 was a bad look.

15. Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai (6-8)

They did stop HCG’s roll at seven, but they also split with Knicks Gaming as we’re now firmly in the part of the power rankings stocked with teams that all seem interchangeable when it comes to relative mediocrity.

16. Knicks Gaming (6-8)

I like this scrappy bunch. They aren’t the highest scoring at 71 points per game, but they play hard and defend. There may be a lack of offensive talent keeping them from growing. Keep an eye on them targeting a player who could potentially improve their scoring punch.

17. Mavs Gaming (6-8)

Dimez is proving himself to be best at the point guard, but the team is still struggling to get things in order. Can you imagine what this team would be if they still had Dayfri in the middle?

18. Cavs Legion GC (4-10)

I don’t know what to make of this team. They sweep T-Wolves Gaming in two hard-fought victories, the first a triple-OT classic, and then they get swept themselves by Magic Gaming. oFAB has been more aggressive of late, and he’s had some big games, but this team is still trying to dig itself out of a hole.

19. CLTX Crossover Gaming (5-7)

A 1-3 week wasn’t what Celtics Crossover Gaming had in mind for DjLayyy’s first four starts. She struggled shooting the three making just under 30% of her attempts (11-of-37), and the C’s couldn’t find much offense in general. Worthingcolt remains the lone bright spot on a team trying to find its way again.

20. Lakers Gaming (3-9)

They were on a bye this week, and something tells me there could be some lineup changes on the way for Week 6. Krazy is too good and Reese has too much experience for this team to be struggling this much.

21. Hawks Talon GC (5-11)

It’s getting pretty ugly for HTGC. They have now lost eight games in a row thanks to their fourth consecutive sweep loss. This one came to Magic Gaming, and worst of all, the games weren’t close. They lost the games by an average of 23.5 points per contest, and something is going to have to give.

22. Bucks Gaming (2-10)

Perhaps the trade shakeup was what they needed. Bucks Gaming didn’t just get their first win, they got two. Regg was phenomenal in both games, so hopefully they are getting set to make a run. The question: is it already too late?

23. Raptors Uprising GC (2-12)

Alone at the bottom and looking for answers in Week 6 after a bye in Week 5. Knicks Gaming and Cavs Legion GC come calling.
