Take a look back at the week that was in the NBA 2K League with a collection of some of the best games, performances, highlights and more from around the 2KL world.
* * *
Games of the Week
Kings Guard Gaming 64, 76ers GC 60: As far as wins go, it’s hard to have a bigger one than this for Kings Guard. They didn’t shy away from challenging one of the league’s top teams, riding 11 3-pointers to the upset victory and second win of the week. The score was tied entering the fourth quarter before KGG used a quick 6-0 run midway through for a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Mavs Gaming 57, Heat Gaming 52: After a relatively soft schedule ahead of this matchup, it was a strong litmus test for Mavs Gaming. They jumped out to an early 22-6 lead, only to watch it whittle away in the fourth quarter. They regrouped in time, sealing the win on Mo’s 3-pointer with 8.9 seconds left to stay unbeaten in the regular season.
Kings Guard Gaming 62, Celtics Crossover Gaming 60: oFAB returned to the lineup following a one-game suspension but Celtics Crossover squandered a fourth-quarter in suffering a weekend sweep. BallLikeSeem provided the dagger for Kings Guard, dribbling the clock down before executing a perfect pick-and-roll to find worthingcolt for the game-winning alley-oop with less than one second remaining.
Magic Gaming 48, Knicks Gaming 47: It wasn’t pretty by any stretch, with neither team breaking the 50-point plateau. The ending made up for it, as the outcome wouldn’t be decided until the final seconds. DT played the role of hero, scoring the go-ahead bucket before blocking OriginalMalik’s attempt at the buzzer to preserve the one-point victory.
Outstanding Performances
G O O F Y 7 5 7, Knicks Gaming (19 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists) vs Pistons GT: He’s been a handful in the paint this season, but his play has been overlooked due to his team’s struggles. Goofy finished a couple of assists shy of a triple-double while adding three blocks in a dominant performance that gave Knicks Gaming their first regular-season win.
OneWildWalnut, Blazer5 Gaming (22 points, 21 rebounds) vs Cavs Legion GC: The defending MVP is no stranger to 20-20 outings as he was the first player to achieve the feat in league history last season. Walnut put together another vintage performance, hitting 11 of 14 shots while adding a pair of steals in his first 20-20 effort of the season.
Dimez, Mavs Gaming (17 points, 10 assists) vs Heat Check Gaming: After a so-so first outing, Dimez saved his best for the backend of Mavs Gaming’s doubleader. He paced his squad in points while knocking down three 3-pointers and reaching double-figures in assists. Most importantly, Dallas came out victorious.
BallLikeSeem, Kings Guard Gaming (23 points, 7 assists, 3 steals) vs Celtics Crossover Gaming: His team is starting to heat up, and Seem has been the driving force. He scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting while finding his teammates in oportune spots to help pull off the surprising victory.
KingQuai614, Raptors Uprising (10 points, 20 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks) vs Nets GC: He set the league rebounding mark for the season, but only held it for a day as OneWildWalnut later topped him. Stil, Quai had one of the best overall performances of his career, grabbing every board in sight as Raptors Uprising picked up their second win of the week.
Radiant, 76ers GC (20 points, 16 assists) vs Celtics Crossover Gaming: Radiant puts together huge performances so often it almost feels routine at times. This was another one of those outings in guiding 76ers GC to a 23-point victory. About the only thing he hasn’t done this season is reach 20 assists in a game. It might not be far off.
