Week 1 Rewind: Arooks’ Scoring Outburst Steals The Show
April 15, 2019
Take a look back at the week that was in the NBA 2K League with a collection of some of the best games, performances, highlights and more from around the 2KL world.

Games of the Week
Bucks Gaming 68, Blazer5 Gaming 67 (2OT) — The most exciting game of the week will go down as an instant classic. A week after stunning Blazer5 in THE TIPOFF, Bucks Gaming pulled off the feat for a second time. Mama Im Dat Man looked to give Blazer5 the win with a late 3-pointer, but Arooks tied things up with a 3-pointer on the other end to force OT before later nailing the game-winning jumper in the second OT.
Hawks Talon GC 68, Celtics Crossover Gaming 58 — The parity in the league is real. In a matchup between a TIPOFF finalist and a winless expansion squad, Hawks Talon pulled off the upset. In the process, a rivalry was born. The hotly contested matchup spilled over into the postgame handshake line in an unfortunate altercation that resulted in one-game suspensions for oFAB and Dat Boy Shotz.
Mavs Gaming 46, Grizz Gaming 45 — This one looked all but decided with Mavs Gaming carrying a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter. Grizz Gaming was resilient in battling back to grab a one-point lead on Jayrod’s 3-pointer. But following a costly turnover, Dimez found PeteBeBallin under the basket for the game-winning layup with 1.6 seconds remaining.
Heat Check Gaming 80, Knicks Gaming 59 — The outcome was never in question from the second quarter on, but Heat Check’s blowout serves as a slight redemption for being swept in last season’s finals by Knicks Gaming. Four players scored at least 14 points for Heat Check, who put on a defensive clinic and bounced back from a frustrating semifinals loss a week ago.
Nets GC 61, Magic Gaming 58 — Both teams entered their doubleheader finales in different boats, with Nets GC going for a two-game sweep and Magic Gaming trying to avoid the dreaded o-fer. Orlando raced out to an early lead only to watch it dissipate over the ensuing 18 minutes. The individual matchup between rookie point guards delivered as Wavy and Reizey turned in strong outings.
Outstanding Performances
Arooks, Bucks Gaming (41 points, 8 3FGM, 7 assists) vs Blazer5 Gaming — No player had a better week than Arooks. After a sizzling first game, he managed to put together an even more impressive showing in leading Bucks Gaming to a double-OT win over Blazer5. In the process, he became the first player to cross the 40-point threshold this season.
Arooks, Bucks Gaming (32 points, 8 3FGM, 5 assists) vs T-Wolves Gaming — This is not a misprint. The top two performances belong to one man. Arooks opened the team’s slate with a huge scoring performance in which he set a new league record for made 3-pointers in a game (a number he would match just a day later).
Ramo, Pacers Gaming (19 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals) vs Jazz Gaming — Pacers Gaming were firing on all cylinders in their win, with Ramo leading the way. He finished just two assists shy of a triple-double while shooting an efficient 9 of 11 from the field in a 38-point victory.
Arsonal, Hawks Talon GC (18 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists) vs Celtics Crossover Gaming — This one was a little more personal for Arsonal, who spent his first season in Boston before being unretained. He’s been one of the best bigs of the early season and delivered a strong showing to propel his team to the surprising victory.
Radiant, 76ers GC (28 points, 9 assists) vs Raptors Uprising GC — Ho-hum, just another huge outing from Radiant. Fresh off his MVP performance in THE TIPOFF, he again propelled unbeaten 76ers GC to another easy win. He’s been so good to this point, it’ll be a surprise when he has an off game.
Wavy, Nets GC (24 points, 6 assists) vs Kings Guard Gaming — He was the seventh point guard off the board in the first round of the draft, but a case can be made that he’s playing as well as any of them. Wavy led his squad in scoring in this one on 10 of 12 shooting while also turning the ball over just three times.
