THE TURN Powered by AT&T Primer

THE TURN Powered by AT&T will be a four-day tournament (Wednesday, July 14 – Saturday, July 17) with all 23 teams participating remotely from their local markets.

Matchups during THE TURN will be played in a best-of-three series, single elimination format, with the winner of each series advancing to the next round. Seeding for the tournament will be determined by each team’s regular-season winning percentage. Teams seeded 10-23 will compete on Wednesday, July 14 to earn the right to advance into the 16-team bracket with teams seeded 1-9 on Thursday, July 15.

Below are the tip-off times for THE TURN:

Wednesday, July 14: 6 p.m. ET
Thursday, July 15: 6 p.m. ET
Friday, July 16: 6 p.m. ET (Quarterfinals)
Saturday, July 17: 6 p.m. ET (Semifinals and Finals)

Games will air live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels. Games will also be available on ESRevolution, eGG Network in Southeast Asia, Loco in India, Sport1 in Europe and Dash Radio.

Below are the tiebreaker scenarios for THE TURN Powered by AT&T:
• Head-to-head record
• Regular season win percentage in conference
• Average point differential during the regular season
• Average points scored during the regular season

Teams will be competing for a prize pool of $260,000. The winner of THE TURN will earn nearly half of the prize pool, with the remainder being awarded to the second- to eighth-place teams (first place – $117,000; second place – $52,000; third and fourth place – $22,100 each; fifth to eighth place – $11,700 each). In addition to prize money, THE TURN Powered by AT&T is the second of three in-season tournaments (THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and THE TICKET) in which teams compete for banners that link together to form THE BANNER CHAIN Powered by AT&T.

To create even more on-court excitement and introduce an added layer of strategy, the NBA 2K League will implement an “Archetype Ban” concept for THE TURN for the third straight year. An archetype is a preset combination of attributes and skills. Players can choose from five different archetypes per position. For more information on the NBA 2K League archetypes, see below.

• Banned archetypes will apply to both teams for the entirety of the best-of-three series and will accrue across games.

• In the first game, each team will determine two archetypes that cannot be used in the series by either team.

• In the second game, each team will select an additional archetype that cannot be used.

• In the third game (if necessary), there will be no additional archetype bans.

• The archetype ban process is as follows:
o Game 1 – Away ban, Home ban, Home ban, Away ban
o Game 2 – Away ban, Home ban
o Game 3 – No additional bans

Raptors Uprising GC won the 2020 edition of THE TURN. Point guard Kenneth “Kenny Got Work” Hailey was named tournament MVP with averages of 28.8 points and 8.6 assists.

THE TURN will feature new fan engagement opportunities including:
• A virtual Prize Cannon that will debut during tournament broadcasts; and
• broadcast spotlight of fans who interact with the NBA 2K League on social media using hashtag #LetsGo2KL.
