Matchups To Watch
Nets Gaming Crew vs. Raptors Uprising GC
Tuesday, 7 pm/et – Twitch, YouTube
The best two teams from Group D get the whole week going for the league. The Raptors’ scoring has been awesome, averaging 72 PPG over their first 3 games, dominating teams with an incredible transition offense. Holding teams under 55.3 PPG on the defensive end is even more impressive, currently ranking 3rd in the entire league. What better matchup for them than an offense averaging 74.5 PPG. Nets GC has been one of the best overall offenses in the league, led by a huge start to the year by 2nd-year pro, Doc. 32.5 PPG will absolutely get the job done, scary to think what this team will be like when Shotz starts taking over games too.
Heat Check Gaming vs. Wizards District Gaming
Wednesday, 9 pm/et – Twitch, YouTube
This is a really tricky matchup for both of these teams. Heat Check Gaming seems to have found their footing in their most recent game against CLTX Gaming, so they will at least be prepared for this matchup. The Wiz are in the same position, slow starts to both of their games before figuring it out in their 3rd. Which version of each team will we see? That will likely decide this matchup. If the Wizards can keep Sav’s scoring in check and break down the Miami defense, they should win easily. But, just like I said in my power rankings, there is something different about this Heat Check team. I wonder if we see that in this matchup.
Dux Infinitos vs. Warriors Gaming Squad
Thursday, 8 pm/et – Twitch, YouTube
Look, you can play as well in this league as you want, for however long you want, but until you play Warriors Gaming Squad, none of it matters. This will be the true test for our newest expansion team. How will they handle themselves against a true title contender? The crushing defense and elite late-game playmaking, it has proven to be overwhelming for even the most talented of teams. I like Dux, I think the Seem/Killeyy combo is going to be fun. But this isn’t Bucks Gaming or even Pacers Gaming…this is the Evil Empire. Good luck Dux, may the force be with you.
Pistons GT vs. T-Wolves Gaming
Friday, 7 pm/et – Twitch, YouTube
This is a good old-fashioned superstar clash. BearDaBeast vs. Radiant. Both of them have looked very good through their first 2 games, however, they both currently have 1 point. This is a huge game not only for the group stage and getting to in-person bracket play, but could this be a game we look back on during the MVP race? Both of these guys are capable of making a run at the award, so let’s see who makes the first move.
Game of the Week – Nets GC vs. Knicks Gaming
Friday, 10 pm/et – Twitch, YouTube
Some have claimed that this isn’t a real rivalry. The proximity of the two teams would usually dictate a rivalry, but I think what is missing with these two teams is history. Big, impactful games. Good news for us, we get their biggest one this week. This game could decide the entirety Group D if dominoes fall a certain way. It’ll be the last game of the group stages as well, so all eyes will be on this game. Could this game decide if one of these teams even makes it out of group stages? At this point, anything is possible.
