NBA 2KL 3v3 SWITCH OPEN – FACT SHEET

 

  • The NBA 2KL 3v3 SWITCH OPEN is the second of three 3v3 tournaments in 2022 as part of the Coinbase BLACKTOP SERIES. Below please find the SWITCH OPEN schedule that tipped off with qualifying events in March and continues this week with tournament play getting underway.
    • May 18 – 28 SWITCH OPEN Amateur North America Qualifying Event (Remote)
    • June 14 – 17 SWITCH OPEN Group Play (Remote)
    • June 21 – 24 SWITCH OPEN Group Play (Remote)
    • June 29 – July 2 SWITCH OPEN Bracket Play (NBA 2K League Studio, Indianapolis)

 

  • New this year, as an avenue for the 2.2 million players who play NBA 2K every day to compete in NBA 2K League competition, amateur teams from around the world have the opportunity to participate alongside NBA 2K League teams for a share of the 3v3 tournament prize pool.

 

  • SWITCH OPEN group play includes the 24 NBA 2K League teams, North American amateur teams that earned a spot through the tournament’s qualifying events and Community Teams selected by the league and consisting of top players from the 2K community and social media influencers.   • The two weeks of remote group play (Tuesday, June 14– Friday, June 17; Tuesday, June 21 – Friday, June 24) will determine the two teams from each four‑team group that advance to the round‑of‑16 in-person bracket play at the NBA 2K League Studio in Indianapolis from June 29 – July 2.
    • The 32 teams (24 NBA 2K League teams, 8 Amateur/Community Teams) are divided into two conferences – East and West. Each conference is then divided into four groups with four teams per group (3 NBA 2K League teams, 1 Amateur/Community Team).
    • Each team will play six series in group play, competing against each team in its group twice.
    • The two teams in each group with the best series records will advance to the round of 16. Tiebreakers are detailed below.
    • Round‑of‑16 seeding will be determined by series records during group play and (if necessary) use of the tiebreakers.
    • Series in group play will be played in a best-of-five format.
    • Series in the round of 16 will be played in a best-of-five format.
    • Series in the quarterfinals through finals will be played in a best-of-seven format.
    • The groups for group play are as follows:
      • Group 1 (Eastern Conference): Raptors Uprising GC, Heat Check Gaming, Celtics Crossover Gaming, Team Smoke
      • Group 2 (Eastern Conference): 76ers GC, Magic Gaming, Knicks Gaming, Dreamshakers
      • Group 3 (Eastern Conference): Grizz Gaming, Hawks Talon GC, NetsGC, Green Beanz
      • Group 4 (Eastern Conference): Wizards District Gaming, Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai, Hornets Venom GT, Rim Runners
      • Group 5 (Western Conference): DUX Infinitos, Kings Guard Gaming, Pistons GT, Team Clutch
      • Group 6 (Western Conference): Lakers Gaming, Warriors Gaming Squad, Cavs Legion GC, Dot Squad

  • Tiebreaker scenarios for the SWITCH OPEN:
    • Best series record in group play
    • Win % in group play on a per‑game basis (i.e., counting a 3-2 series win as 3 wins and 2 losses)
    • Head-to-head record in group play on a per‑game basis
    • Average points scored
    • Random Draw

 

  • Games will begin at 7 p.m. ET June 14 – 17, June 21 – 24, and June 29 – July 1, and 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 2. Fans can watch games live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.  Games will also be available on Dash Radio, eGG Network in Southeast Asia, Loco in India, and Sport1 in Europe.

 

  • The teams will compete for a total prize pool of $150,000. The prize pool will be awarded as follows:
  • First place – $60,000
  • Second place – $30,000
  • Third and fourth place – $15,000 each
  • Fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place – $7,500 each
