NBA 2K League Week 7 Preview

THE TURN CHAMPS: Hornets Venom GT won the NBA 2K League’s second in-season tournament of the season, THE TURN powered by AT&T, and a first-place prize pool of $117,000. Shooting guard Craig “rigby” Burnett Jr. was named tournament MVP after averaging 21.3 points over the team’s nine games in the tournament. Burnett Jr., the No. 8 pick in the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft, also scored at least 18 points in each of Hornets Venom GT’s seven straight wins during the tournament. Hornets Venom GT (11-5) will host Magic Gaming (10-8) on Thursday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET in a highly anticipated matchup. The team will compete live from Spectrum Center in Charlotte and fans can RSVP here.

BEST OF THE WEST: Two of the top teams in the Western Conference will meet on Saturday, July 24 at 7 p.m. ET when T-Wolves Gaming (12-6) hosts Pacers Gaming (13-5). Pacers Gaming is led by NBA 2K League MVP and Rookie of the Year contender Xavier “630” Barraza (33.8 PPG, 9.3 APG). T-Wolves Gaming, the 2019 NBA 2K League Champions, is steered by veteran point guard Michael “BearDaBeast” Key (22.6 PPG, 9.2 APG) and dynamic shooting guard Dhwan “ShiftyKaii” White (23.2 PPG, 6.3 APG).

SAV VS. CHOC: When NetsGC (11-7) hosts Heat Check Gaming (8-8) on Saturday, July 24 at 9 p.m. ET, two of the league’s most exciting point guards will duel it out. Heat Check Gaming’s Sten “SAV” Valge Saar ranks second in assists (12.2) and fourth in scoring (27.7) while NetsGC’s Josh “Choc” Humphries enters as the league leader in assists (14.1) and ranks sixth in scoring (27.3). Fun fact: Both players were Top-10 selections in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft.

RAPTORS UPRISING GC VS. 76ERS GC: 76ers GC (9-7) will host Raptors Uprising GC (5-13) in the NBA 2K League “Game of the Week” on Friday, July 23 at 10 p.m. ET. During the offseason, 76ers GC reshaped their roster with the acquisition of 2018 NBA 2K League MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Dayne “OneWildWalnut” Downey (18.5 PPG, 11.6 RPG). The team also selected point guard Andre “Dre” Marshall (25.9 PPG, 10.1 APG) in the first round of the 2021 Draft. After its historic 2020 regular season, Raptors Uprising GC enters the matchup on a three-game regular season winning streak. The team is led by 2020 NBA 2K League MVP Kenneth “Kenny Got Work” Hailey (22.9 PPG, 7.1 APG) and veteran center Xavier “Type” Vescovi (16.2 PPG, 11.6 RPG).
