BEAST MODE: With two victories in Week 10, T-Wolves Gaming kept their playoff hopes alive and improved to 7-6. Minnesota was led by rookie point guard Michael “BearDaBeast” Key, who was named Intel Player of the Week for Week 10. On Wednesday, June 26, the North Carolina native recorded 17 points and 15 assists in a 71-62 victory over Warriors Gaming Squad. Later that night, he put up 18 points and 11 assists in a 51-45 win over Kings Guard Gaming.
SPREAD LOVE, IT’S THE BROOKLYN WAY: On Saturday, June 29, NetsGC held their first esports youth basketball camp – NetsGC Gaming Academy presented by HighPoint Solutions. The team hosted 15 underserved youth from P.S. 297 in Brooklyn and Girls Hope Boys Hope of New York at the NetsGC Training Facility. BLAZING TO THE TOP: By winning two games in Week 10, Blazer5 Gaming secured the No. 1 overall seed in the 2019 NBA 2K League Playoffs. On Thursday, June 27, Portland won a 64-63 thriller against Grizz Gaming as small forward Jomar “Jomar12 PR” Varela Escapa scored 20 points, including the game-winning basket. On Friday, June 28, the dynamic duo of point guard Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser and center Dayne “OneWildWalnut” Downey led the team to a 73-58 win against Mavs Gaming. Each player recorded a double-double, with Nasser having 21 points and 15 assists and Downey registering 26 points and 11 rebounds.
