NBA 2K League Power Rankings: Pre-Playoffs

After a wild Week 12, the regular season is now in the books.

Eight squads are heading to the playoffs, while the 13 others must wait until next year for their shot.

Before the postseason begins, let’s take one final look at where all the teams stand in our final bi-weekly NBA 2K League Power Rankings of the season.

1. Blazer5 Gaming
Regular-season record: 14-2
Previous rank: 1

A loss in their regular-season finale snapped a 14-game winning streak, but it hardly put a damper on their impressive campaign. B5 heads into the playoffs as the top seed for a second straight season, this time looking to avenge last year’s first-round upset.

2. Mavs Gaming
Regular-season record: 12-4
Previous rank: 3

A win to close things out provides them with some good vibes entering the postseason following three consecutive losses. Second-seeded Mavs Gaming draw Celtics Crossover Gaming in the first round, so all eyes will be on Dimez and oFAB, last year’s top-two draft picks.

3. 76ers GC
Regular-season record:11-5
Previous rank: 6

These guys are back to looking dangerous, winning four straight games to rise to the third seed. They were cooking in their last game, with ZDS exploding for 52 points, a single-game best this season, while Radiant matched the league record with 26 assists.

4. Celtics Crossover Gaming
Regular-season record: 10-6
Previous rank: 8

This squad has a completely different level of confidence than the one that languished near the bottom of the standings early on in the season. Paced by MVP candidate oFAB, CLTX Gaming are playing their best basketball right now, a meaningless loss in their final game notwithstanding.

5. T-Wolves Gaming
Regular-season record: 10-6
Previous rank: 12

With their season on the line, the most outspoken player in the league had plenty of reason to talk big. BearDaBeast helped seal T-Wolves Gaming’s spot in the playoffs with a huge win over Blazer5 Gaming, their second triumph in as many tries against the league’s first-place team.

6. Pacers Gaming
Regular-season record: 10-6
Previous rank: 2

Having put themselves in a precarious spot heading into Week 12, Pacers Gaming still were in control of their own destiny. Two wins and they were in. Behind the play of Swizurk, they went out and swept their doubleheader, setting up a first-round series with 76ers GC.

7. Kings Guard Gaming
Regular-season record: 10-6
Previous rank: 5

Started from the bottom, now we’re here. Just a year after finishing tied for the league’s worst record, KGG put together one of the most impressive turnarounds in the league to finish in fifth place. Now we get must-see viewing with Bp going head-to-head with BearDaBeast in the first round.

8. Warriors Gaming Squad
Regular-season record: 7-9
Previous rank: 7

Care to guess which team ended the regular season with longest active losing streak? Well, it’s WGS, who have dropped six straight. Still, the two-time tournament champions have shown the ability to turn on the switch in an instant and will give Blazer5 all they can handle in their three-game series.

9. Magic Gaming
Regular-season record: 9-7
Previous rank: 4

Magic Gaming earns the unfortunate distinction of being arguably the best team left out of the playoffs. They’ll be the first to take the blame, dropping a must-win game against Grizz Gaming to open their Week 12 doubleheader that all but sealed their fate.

10. Grizz Gaming
Regular-season record: 9-7
Previous rank: 14

It simply is a case of too little, too late for Grizz Gaming. They did everything they could over the final two weeks of the season in winning three straight games. Despite the push, they finished in eighth place, one game behind four playoff-bound squads ahead of them.

11. Cavs Legion GC
Regular-season record: 8-8
Previous rank: 9

There’s a case to be made that this is one of the best defensive squads in the league. Unfortunately, that didn’t translate into enough wins to make a return trip to the postseason, with losses in three of their final four games hurting the cause.

12. Bucks Gaming
Regular-season record: 8-8
Previous rank: 11

Just a few weeks ago, it looked like they were in prime position to grab a playoff spot. Three losses in their final four games dashed those hopes. The future still looks bright, with Plondo playing his way into the Rookie of the Year conversation and Arooks finishing top five in the league in scoring.

13. Jazz Gaming
Regular-season record: 8-8
Previous rank: 15

A trip to the semifinals of THE TURN showed the capabilities this team possessed, but it proved to be their most successful stretch of games this season. Closing out the campaign with a pair of hard-fought wins in Week 12 helped get their record back to even.

14. Raptors Uprising GC
Regular-season record: 8-8
Previous rank: 13

A year after grabbing the fourth seed in the playoffs, Raptors Uprising weren’t able to get back to the big dance this time around. A midseason trade for Sick x 973 paid off on the court as the team closed the year with wins in three of their last four games to finish in the middle of the pack.

15. Nets GC
Regular-season record: 7-9
Previous rank: 10

It was a tough stretch run for Nets GC, who sat at 7-5 and in the thick of the playoff hunt just weeks ago. While four straight defeats thereafter ended those hopes, this expansion squad has a ton of positives to take away from the season as they continue building their franchise.

16. Wizards District Gaming
Regular-season record: 7-9
Previous rank: 16

It’s hard not to wonder how different this season would have gone had they not lost BooPainter due to suspension. To their credit, WDG made strides following a slow start to nearly climb back to a .500 record by season’s end.

17. Heat Check Gaming
Regular-season record: 6-10
Previous rank: 17

If picking the most surprising team not  to make the playoffs, Heat Check might take the crown. A season after making the NBA 2K League Finals, things just didn’t turn out in their favor despite returning a veteran-ladded squad and swinging a pair of in-season trades.

18. Knicks Gaming
Regular-season record: 4-12
Previous rank: 18

The defending champions couldn’t reproduce the magic from last season’s improbable playoff run. They did make another valiant attempt at winning THE TICKET in Orlando, but too much inconsistency in the regular season proved to be their downfall.

19. Hawks Talon GC
Regular-season record: 5-11
Previous rank: 19

Give them credit for trying to shake things up, pulling the trigger on a trade for MrStylez in hopes of solidifying the point guard position. They just couldn’t find the right combo of five starters to achieve sustained success in their inaugural season.

20. Lakers Gaming
Regular-season record: 3-13
Previous rank: 20

Things can only go up from here for Lakers Gaming. They went through their fair share of ups and downs as an expansion team. Kev, who scored 41 points in his final game, should provide a strong foundation for next season.

21. Pistons GT
Regular-season record: 2-14
Previous rank: 21

They picked heckuva way to end an otherwise disappointing season, setting a new league record with 108 points in a win over Heat Check Gaming to snap a 13-game losing skid. It gives them some positive energy to carry into Season 3.
