NBA 2K League Power Rankings: Post-Week 7 Edition
June 4, 2019
Ten. That’s the number of wins Mavs Gaming rattled off before suffering their first loss of the season. It’s also Blazer5 Gaming’s current winning streak.
Both teams are now tied with identical 10-1 records while establishing themselves as the class of the league. After that is where it becomes murky, with teams sitting 3-16 in the standings separated by just two games.
Here’s how the teams stack up in our latest bi-weekly NBA 2K League Power Rankings.
1. Blazer5 Gaming
Regular-season record: 10-1
Previous rank: 3
A one-point loss during the opening week to Bucks Gaming remains the lone blemish on their record. Blazer5 have since rattled off 10 consecutive wins, finally ascending into first place on the heels of Mavs Gaming’s first loss. Can last season’s regular-season champs finish on top again?
2. Mavs Gaming
Regular-season record: 10-1
Previous rank: 3
It’s hard not to marvel at what Mavs Gaming accomplished over the first half of the season. While their unbelievable winning streak came to an end at the hands of 76ers GC, these guys have the look of legit title contenders with the trio of Dimez, Mo and PeteBeBallin leading the way.
3. Warriors Gaming Squad
Regular-season record: 7-4
Previous rank: 1
It’s a good week when you can go 1-1 and gain ground in the standings. That’s the situation WGS found themselves in after defeating Pacers Gaming before falling to Hawks Talon GC. They head into their bye week sitting in third place.
4. 76ers GC
Regular-season record: 5-4
Previous rank: 2
It’s fair to wonder at this point if 76ers GC are just bored of the regular season. The biggest issue with that being they’re not a lock to make the playoffs at the current moment. A huge win over Mavs Gaming last week should go a long way to sparking THE TIPOFF champs.
5. Pacers Gaming
Regular-season record: 5-3
Previous rank: 6
They were one of two teams to received an absolute brutal doubleheader slate in Week 7, with games against Warriors Gaming Squad and Blazer5 Gaming. A pair of ensuing losses is not what Pacers Gaming had in mind, but they remain firmly entrenched in a playoff spot and shouldn’t have trouble regrouping.
6. Kings Guard Gaming
Regular-season record: 7-4
Previous rank: 4
It doesn’t get any more challenging than Kings Guard’s Week 7 doubleheader slate. They were tasked with facing Mavs Gaming and Blazer5 Gaming, the two teams sitting atop the standings. Things went about as bad as they could have gone, but KGG still sit in fourth place.
7. Cavs Legion GC
Regular-season record: 7-5
Previous rank: 16
No team had a better two-week stretch than them. Four straight wins have Cavs Legion right back in the thick of the playoff race. Their fourth-quarter comeback, in which they trailed by 16 points with under three minutes to play, against T-Wolves Gaming was one for the ages.
8. Magic Gaming
Regular-season record: 5-4
Previous rank: 12
Their move to acquire ToXsiK paid immediate dividends, with his defense — notably against 76ers GC’s Radiant — helping spark the squad to a doubleheader sweep last week. Reizey continued his high level play by averaging 20.5 PPG and 12.5 APG over the two victories.
9. Nets GC
Regular-season record: 5-4
Previous rank: 17
Things looked bleak just a few weeks back when they suffered four straight losses. Nets GC have since righted the ship to the tune of three consecutive wins. They face a strong barometer next week against 76ers GC, the team they’re currently tied with in the standings.
10. Celtics Crossover Gaming
Regular-season record: 4-5
Previous rank: 13
The results are finally starting to match the talent. CLTX Gaming have corrected their horrendous start, picking up wins in their last three outings, including a sweep of Wizards District Gaming and Knicks Gaming in Week 7.
11. Bucks Gaming
Regular-season record: 5-5
Previous rank: 7
An early season surprise, Bucks Gaming have dropped three of four games to fall to the middle of the pack of the standings. They’re coming off a bye week and face a surging Magic Gaming squad in their next game.
12. Jazz Gaming
Regular-season record: 4-4
Previous rank: 8
Their bye week couldn’t have come at a better time. Amid rumblings of some unrest within the team, Jazz Gaming have suffered back-to-back losses. Their deep run at THE TURN showed the talent is there, but keeping the consistency is the next task.
13. Heat Check Gaming
Regular-season record: 4-5
Previous rank: 9
As strange as it sounds, they are just 1-3 with Hood in their lineup, including three consecutive losses. A bye week was exactly what Heat Check ordered, as it allowed their new starting five ample time to gel. If they don’t, they’re in danger of missing the playoffs.
14. Hawks Talon GC
Regular-season record: 4-4
Previous rank: 11
In one of the stranger facts of the season: Hawks Talon have yet to put together a win streak. The expansion squad has traded wins and losses over their first eight games to sit with a .500 record, including their most recent 1-1 doubleheader split last week.
15. Raptors Uprising GC
Regular-season record: 4-5
Previous rank: 15
They have split each of their last three weekly doubleheaders to remain in the middle of the pack in the standings. Kenny is coming off his best outing of the season (27 points) and will need to keep it going for Raptors Uprising to rise into a playoff spot.
16. Grizz Gaming
Regular-season record: 4-5
Previous rank: 14
To illustrate how close the playoff race is, a four-point loss in Week 7 to Raptors Uprising have Grizz Gaming sitting in 15th place. Had they gotten the win, which would have been four straight, would have pushed them into seventh place.
17. T-Wolves Gaming
Regular-season record: 3-6
Previous rank: 10
It’s going to be hard for T-Wolves Gaming to regroup after their late meltdown against Cavs Legion in Week 7. This expansion bunch might be running out of time to make a serious run at the postseason.
18. Wizards District Gaming
Regular-season record: 2-6
Previous rank: 19
After picking up their first two wins of the campaign in Week 5, Wizards District were on the receiving end of some tough luck. They suffered a doubleheader sweep last week by a combined seven points.
19. Knicks Gaming
Regular-season record: 1-7
Previous rank: 18
Five consecutive losses have the defending champs reeling. Can they rediscover last season’s magic at the upcoming TICKET? It’s probably their only hope at this point.
20. Lakers Gaming
Regular-season record: 1-8
Previous rank: 21
They are without a win since Week 2. Coming off a bye week, we’ll see what type of lineup changes they experimented with in trying to unlock right combination for success.
21. Pistons GT
Regular-season record: 1-8
Previous rank: 20
Like Lakers Gaming, they too are winless since Week 2 and are coming off a bye week. They’ll try to stop the bleeding with an upcoming doubleheader against 76ers GC and Grizz Gaming.
