NBA 2K LEAGUE DRAFT LOTTERY: WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
The NBA 2K League Draft Lottery will be held on Thursday, October 13 at 4 p.m. ET on the league’s Twitter livestream. The NBA 2K League Draft Lottery will determine the order of selection for the 12 lottery teams in the 2023 NBA 2K League Draft. The results of the lottery will be shared on NBA2KLeague.com.
The NBA 2K League will use a computerized random number generator for the lottery. There are 1,001 possible combinations when four numbers are selected out of 14, without regard to their order of selection and with no repetition of numbers. Prior to the lottery, 1,000 of those 1,001 combinations will be assigned to the 12 participating lottery teams. If the combination 11-12-13-14 is generated, it will be disregarded to preserve an even 1,000 combinations. By inverse order of season performance across 3v3 and 5v5 competitions, Blazer5 Gaming and Grizz Gaming have the greatest chance of receiving the No. 1 overall draft pick and will be assigned the same number of combinations (151 each).
The lottery will begin with the random number generator generating four numbers. The team that has been assigned the combination that includes these four numbers will receive the number one pick. The same process will be repeated with the number generator for the second pick and then again for the third pick.
If the same team comes up more than once, the result will be discarded and another combination will be selected.
The random number generator will only be used to determine the top three picks. The order of selection for the teams that were in the draft lottery but that do not win one of the top three picks will be determined by inverse order of their season performance across 3v3 and 5v5 competitions.
The order of the 2023 NBA 2K League Draft will run as follows: 1‑4) first four lottery teams; 5) NBL Oz Gaming; 6‑13) remaining eight lottery teams; and 14‑25) 12 remaining NBA 2K League teams.
The 12 non-lottery teams will select in inverse order of their combined NBA2KL Championships finish.
The 2023 NBA 2K League Draft order is subject to change based on additional expansion, trades and player retainment.
