2020 NBA 2K League Finals Media Preview

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Warriors Gaming Squad will meet Wizards District Gaming in the 2020 NBA 2K League Finals delivered by DoorDash on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. ET, marking the first finals appearance for both teams. The best-of-five series will air live on ESPN2, ESPN’s digital platforms, and the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels, and on delay on eGG Network in Southeast Asia and Loco in India. The 2020 NBA 2K League Champions will receive $420,000 from the season’s $1.4 million prize pool and the right to hoist the NBA 2K League Championship trophy. BAY AREA POWERHOUSE: Warriors Gaming Squad rolls into the Finals with experience winning NBA 2K League hardware. In 2019, the team won THE TURN and THE TICKET powered by AT&T, becoming the first team to win two tournaments in the same season. The team is led by 2020 MVP finalist and point guard Charlie “CB13” Bostwick (31.4 PPG, 8.7 APG). Veteran shooting guard Alex “Bsmoove” Reese (13.5 PPG, 2.2 APG) was named the MVP of THE TICKET in 2019 and is a proven threat from three-point range. The team also features small forward Sam “Gradient” Salyers (9.9 PPG), who won 2020 NBA 2K League Play of the Year.
TITLE TOWN IN DC? In October, Washington, D.C. sports fans witnessed MLB’s Washington Nationals win the World Series and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics win the 2019 WNBA Finals. With the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft Delivered by Panera Bread, the team selected point guard John “JBM” Mascone (26.4 PPG, 6.9 APG), a Rookie of the Year finalist and a key component to the team’s Finals run. Mascone has also made history as the first No. 1 overall draft pick to reach the Finals. On Friday, Aug. 28, Wizards District Gaming will look to become the next D.C. sports team to win a championship.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH: The 2020 Finals will feature compelling matchups at every position. Wizards District Gaming point guard John “JBM” Mascone (26.4 PPG, 6.9 APG), a ROY finalist, will be opposed by Warriors Gaming Squad point guard Charlie “CB13” Bostwick (31.4 PPG, 8.7 APG), an NBA 2K League MVP finalist. Warriors Gaming Squad center Malik “Slaughter” Leisinger (11.7 PPG, 14.3 RPG), one of the best comeback stories this season, will match-up against Wizards District Gaming center and 2020 MVP finalist Ryan “Dayfri” Conger (14 PPG, 11.8 RPG).
