Storylines For The 2021 NBA 2K League Playoffs

BACK ON THE STAGE: The 2021 NBA 2K League Playoffs Delivered by DoorDash will begin tonight at Mavs Gaming Hub in Dallas, marking the first time that the NBA 2K League holds games in person since the 2019 NBA 2K League Finals in New York City. The opening round through the semifinals will be held from Thursday, Aug. 26 through Saturday, Aug.28, and the Playoffs will culminate with the 2021 NBA 2K League Finals Delivered with DoorDash on Saturday, Sept. 4. Games will be simulcast live at 5 p.m. ET each day on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels, and will also be available on Dash Radio, ESRevolution, eGG Network in Southeast Asia, Loco in India, Sport1 in Europe and Tencent

PRIZE POOL: The NBA 2K League will award more than $1 million in prize money during the 2021 Playoffs, with the NBA 2K League champions receiving $450,000 from that pool. The remaining $630,000 will be distributed among the teams that qualify for the 2021 Playoffs (second place – $180,000, third and fourth place – $80,000, fifth through eighth place – $42,500, ninth through twelfth place – $30,000).
DEFENDING CHAMPS: Finishing with a league-best 22-6 record, Wizards District Gaming seems primed to successfully defend its NBA 2K League championship. Throughout the regular season, the team has been guided by 2020 NBA 2K League Finals MVP Ryan “Dayfri” Conger (16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds) and point guard John “JBM” Mascone (24.1 points, 9.8 assists). After a first-round bye, Wizards District Gaming will make its 2021 Playoffs debut on Friday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
630 LEADS THE PACERS: With the second pick in the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft, Pacers Gaming selected Xavier “630” Barraza. Bar- raza leads the league in scoring and has emerged as a contender
for NBA 2K League Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year. With a first-round bye, Barraza and Pacers Gaming will play in the quarterfinals on Friday, August 27 at 5 p.m ET.
CHOC AND NETSGC: NetsGC’s Joshua “Choc” Humphries finished the regular season as the league leader in assists (14.4) and ranked second in scoring (31.7). On Aug. 14, he tallied 58 points and an NBA
2K League record 30 assists in a 137-113 victory over Bucks Gaming. Humphries and NetsGC face off against 76ers GC in the first round tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
KNICKS GAMING WINS THE TICKET: On Saturday, Knicks Gaming defeated Blazer5 Gaming to win the NBA 2K League’s third and final in-season tournament – THE TICKET Powered by AT&T. Knicks Gaming, the 2018 NBA 2K League Champion, becomes the first two-time winner of THE TICKET in NBA 2K League history (2018,2021). The team begins its quest to capture its second NBA 2K League championship tonight by facing Grizz Gaming at 5 p.m. ET.
LET’S DO IT AGAIN: The 2021 Playoffs will feature all three past NBA 2K League champions – Knicks Gaming (2018), T-Wolves Gaming (2019), Wizards District Gaming (2020). T-Wolves Gaming and Wizards District enter the Playoffs as the No. 1 seed in their respective conferences. Each team will look to become the first NBA 2K League franchise to win a second championship.
