NBA 2KL 3v3 SLAM OPEN – FACT SHEET
- The NBA 2KL 3v3 SLAM OPEN is the first of three 3v3 tournaments in 2023 as part of the Coinbase BLACKTOP SERIES. Below please find the SLAM OPEN schedule that tipped off with open qualifying events in January and February and continues throughout this month with the closed qualifier event and tournament play getting underway.
- March 8 – 11 SLAM OPEN Group Play (Remote)
- March 13 – SLAM OPEN Closed Qualifying Event (Remote)
- March 14 – 17 SLAM OPEN Group Play (Remote)
- March 21 – 24 SLAM OPEN Bracket Play (Remote)
- March 29 – April 1 SLAM OPEN Bracket Play (District E, Washington, D.C.)
- For the second season, as an avenue for the 2 million players who play NBA 2K every day to compete in NBA 2K League competition, community teams from around the world will have the opportunity to participate alongside NBA 2K League teams for a share of the 3v3 tournament prize pool.
- SLAM OPEN group play includes only the 25 NBA 2K League teams. For the SLAM OPEN tournament group play schedule, click here.
- Community Team rosters will be announced in the coming weeks.
- The two weeks of remote group play (Wednesday, March 8 – Saturday, March 11; Tuesday, March 14 – Friday, March 17) will determine the 1-25 bracket play seeding for the 25 NBA 2K League teams from each five‑team group. Closed Qualifier placement will determine which seven Community Teams – teams that earned a spot through the tournaments’ qualifying events or selected by the league and consisting of top players from the 2K community and social media influencers – advance to bracket play. The top 12 teams will meet for in-person bracket play at District E in downtown Washington, D.C. Wednesday, March 29 – Saturday, April 1.
- The 25 NBA 2K League teams are divided into five groups of five teams regardless of conference.
- Each team will play eight matches in group play.
- Round‑of‑32 bracket play seeding will be determined by series records during group play for the 25 NBA 2K League teams, and in Closed Qualifier for the seven Community Teams, and (if necessary) use of the tiebreakers.
- All series across the SLAM OPEN will be played in a best-of-five, double-elimination format.
- The 12-team in-person bracket play will switch to single elimination.

- Group 3: 76ers GC, Mavs Gaming, Hornets Venom GT, Grizz Gaming, DUX Infinitos
- Group 4: Gen.G Tigers, Pistons GT, Cavs Legion GC, T-Wolves Gaming, Heat Check Gaming
- Group 5: Lakers Gaming, Nets GC, NBL Oz Gaming, Pacers Gaming Raptors Uprising GC

- Group Play: 10 points per match win
- Bracket Play: Points based on placement

- Tiebreaker scenarios for the SLAM OPEN:
- Points earned
- Win % in group play on a per‑game basis (i.e., counting a 3-2 series win as 3 wins and 2 losses)
- Head-to-head record in group play on a per‑game basis
- When more than two teams are tied, teams will be seeded based on winning percentage in all scheduled matchups among the tied teams
- Average points differential
- Average points scored
- Random Draw
- Tiebreaker scenarios for the SLAM OPEN:
- Games will begin at 6 p.m each night. Fans can watch games live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels. Games will also be available on Loco in India, and SPS.
- The teams will compete for a total prize pool of $150,000. The prize pool will be awarded as follows:
- First place – $60,000
- Second place – $30,000
- Third place – $17,000
- Fourth place – $13,000
- Fifth and sixth place – $10,000 each
- Seventh and eighth place – $5,000 each
