In the closest game of Friday’s slate of THE TURN, Mavs Gaming overcame a late rally from Bucks Gaming to take a 74-68 win and advance to the quarterfinals of THE TURN.
Bucks Gaming were the first to strike, taking an early 5-2 run in the first quarter. From that point on, though, it was all Mavs, all the time. Dallas went on a 17-8 tear in the remaining minutes of the opening period to head into the second quarter with a 22-10 lead. The story was much the same in the second quarter as the Mavs’ Big 3 of Dimez, Dayfri and BallLikeSeem spaced the floor and prevented the Bucks from getting anything going.
After three subpar quarters, Bucks Gaming finally made things a bit interesting going down the stretch. Dallas came into the final frame with a 61-45 lead, but Milwaukee opened the quarter on an 11-4 run to get themselves within single digits of the Mavs. The Bucks kept on chipping away at the lead until they were only down five points with less than a minute to go. It was at that point, however, that BallLikeSeem shut the Bucks with a three-point dagger to keep his team ahead for good.
When push came to shove, the Mavs’ Big 3 was simply better than the Big 3 of XxSTL2LAxX, Game6Drake, and oLARRY from the Bucks. The Mavs trio were one point from outscoring the entire Bucks team on their own with 67 points, while the Bucks trio tallied just 53 points, which was ultimately the difference in the game.
Mavs Gaming will face either Celtics Crossover Gaming orJazz Gaming in the quarterfinals of THE TURN on Saturday.
