Kings Guard Gaming shut down Knicks Gaming when it counted during a 71-60 win in front of the home crowd on Saturday in the NBA 2K League.
With the Knicks (1-3) coming into this matchup desperately needing a win, the first quarter couldn’t have gone any better for them. They were locking down on defense, forcing turnovers, and most importantly, hitting their shots. Knicks Gaming seemed to have no trouble at all getting into the paint, which allowed them to take a solid 20-14 win into the second quarter.
It was at that point, however, that Kings Guard (3-1) answered the challenge. While the Kings seemed a bit disjointed early on in the first quarter, any nerves they had were completely snuffed out as they outscored the Knicks 17-5 in the second quarter. It seemed as though Knicks Gaming couldn’t handle the quadruple threat of timelycook, SAFiya4ya, ColeWorld2K, and worthingcolt who got the Kings going and guided them to a 31-25 halftime lead.
While the third quarter went a bit better for Knicks Gaming, who were playing in front of a packed studio filled with the players’ friends and family, it wasn’t long before everything once again fell apart at the seam. Despite G O O F Y 757 and IdrisDaGoat6 going on a bit of a run to tie things up at the end of the third quarter, Kings Guard again went on a huge run to start the fourth and put the game away for good. Much like the second quarter, Kings Guard outscored Knicks Gaming 13-4 in the opening couple minutes of the fourth. Once Kings Guard got into a groove, Knicks Gaming was simply unable to stop them as they were silenced in front of the home crowd for a tough loss.
