The Kings of the North have given the hottest team in the NBA 2K League the cold shoulder.
In a must win game, Raptors Uprising GC (8-6) stopped Heat Check Gaming (8-5) and their five-game winning streak, defeating them by a score of 81-73.
Both teams employed a five-out motion offense, feeding their workhorses Hotshot and Kenny often. After the first quarter ended in a 16-16 tie, the Raptors started cooking with KingQuai614 coming up with several big buckets in the paint. On defense, Toronto was smothering anyone not named Hotshot, holding all shooters except the slashing small forward to just 6-of-14 made buckets from the field in the first half.
By the start of the third quarter, the Raptors had a comfortable double-digit lead that they were able to keep despite the Heat’s best efforts. Hotshot still ended the game with 35 points and 11 assists, but ultimately, he and his supporting cast could not make up for the 28-15 second quarter blowout they endured.
They also could not deal with the versatile Raptors offense, who were a threat both in the paint and on the perimeter. KingQuai614 and Kenny combined for 55 interior points, while All Hail Trey and Yusuf_Scarbz made three triples each.
With the win, the Raptors prevented Heat Check Gaming from potentially securing the number two seed in the playoffs while also punching their own ticket to the big dance. Unfortunately for Indianapolis fans, the win also meant that Pacers Gaming were knocked out of postseason contention.
