Grizz Gaming came up big with a 72-67 win on the final day of the NBA 2K League regular season.
Heat Check (8-6) came into this game with a shot at the fourth seed in the playoffs. With the way this team played, though, you got the feeling that they were okay with missing out on that seed which came along with a matchup against the red-hot Raptors GC in the first round of the playoffs. Instead Miami will claim the sixth seed as well as a showdown with Pistons GT to open up the playoffs.
With that in mind, the sloppy and lethargic play from the Heat becomes a bit more clear. While they made a bit of a run late in the game, everyone besides Hotshot just failed to make any difference in the proceedings. He tallied a monster 53-point, 13-rebound double-double on 23-of-33 shooting, but the highest scorer besides him was 24K Dropoff with just five points.
Even with the Heat laying off the gas credit has to go to Grizz Gaming (6-8) put on a complete showing come away with the win. Led by AuthenticAfrican (31 points and 11 assists), UniversalPhenom (18 points and 12 rebounds), and ayeTHREAT (11 points), the Grizz were firing on all cylinders to make sure that it ended the season on the highest note possible. Even when the Heat threatened to close the gap late in the game, the Grizz buckled down to secure the win.
