Gen.G Tigers entered the quarterfinal round as a wild card after going undefeated in Group 6 pool play, and the team from Shanghai swept Cavs Legion GC on Thursday to punch their ticket to the semifinal round of THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T.

Gen.G Tigers got off to a strong start in Game 1, finishing the first quarter with a 24-14 lead before going into halftime leading 40-24. Cavs Legion GC managed to keep pace with Gen.G over the second half, but they were unable to formulate much of a comeback as the Shanghai club secured a 71-57 win.

ShiftyKaii led the team effort by Gen.G Tigers in the first contest, finishing with 31 points, eight assists and three steals. Deadeye also had a strong performance with 10 rebounds, 16 rebounds and three blocks, while Killeyy (14 points, four steals, three assists) and Gen (14 points) were also effective in the winning effort. For Cavs Legion GC, Strainer had the highest scoring output by either side with 32 points along with four assists, but he also gave up eight turnovers. He was unable to get much help from his teammates, as nobody else put forth a double-digit points total, with Goddof2k (eight points) logging the second-highest total on the team.

Cavs Legion GC began Game 2 on a slightly higher note, outscoring Gen.G Tigers 16-13 over the first quarter, but Gen.G piled on the points in the following quarters. By halftime, Gen.G Tigers had jumped out to a 38-24 advantage, and they kept their foot on the gas over the second half to coast to a blowout 90-53 victory.

Gen.G Tigers had three players top 20 points during Game 2. ShiftyKaii once again led the team in scoring with 32 points, four assists and three steals, while Killeyy put up 22 points, three rebounds and three steals, and Gen finished with 20 points and six assists. Deadeye fell just short of a triple-double as he had eight points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists, but he missed a field goal as time expired. Strainer had 22 points and two assists for Cleveland, but he once again struggled with ball control, committing eight of the team’s 17 turnovers. He got slightly more help on the scoreboard from the rest of the team, with oLarry contributing 14 points and 13 assists, while All Hail Trey logged 12 points and six rebounds, but they were unable to keep up with Gen.G’s offensive surge.

Cavs Legion GC’s next regular season contest will be June 29 against NetsGC, while Gen.G Tigers will face fellow undefeated team Raptors Uprising GC on Friday in the semifinal round of THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T.
