The Raptors Uprising GC continues to dominate the competition in the NBA 2K League this season. They proclaimed champions of THE TURN powered by AT&T on Saturday, July 25th, after defeating the Wizards District Gaming by a 2-0 score in their three-game final series.

The Raptors had to work extremely hard to get the win in both contests. In fact, the Wizards jumped ahead in Game 1 with a 17-15 score, and they were able to maintain that advantage through the upcoming two quarters — 16-16 and 8-8, respectively. The Wizards were only a few minutes away from securing a Game 1 victory, but the Raptors had something to say about it.

As it has been the case with the Uprising team all season long, they can become unstoppable once they iron a few things out. That’s what happened in the fourth quarter, where they flipped the script thanks to their smothering defense. They won the final period by a 17-10 score, ultimately securing a low-scoring, hard-working 56-51 win in Game 1.

Kenny Got Work paced the Raptors with 20 points and six assists, but he received decent support from the rest of the squad. ReeceMode had 13 points, and Sick One chipped in with 10 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists. JBM was the best player for the Wizards thanks to his 25 points, four assists, and only three turnovers, while Dayfri chipped in with 14 points and 11 boards.

Things got off to a similar start in Game 2, as the Wizards jumped to a 10-6 lead following the first quarter. However, the Raptors didn’t wait until the end of the game and made adjustments rather quickly. They responded with a 21-9 second quarter and an 18-13 third quarter, pushing themselves up to a 13-point lead ahead of the final minutes of the contest.

The Wizards tried to mount a late comeback and won the final quarter by a 19-9 score. However, they fell short in their quest and lost the game 54-51, as well as the series and the tournament.

Kenny Got Work carried the Raptors to victory in this one, as he posted 32 points with two assists and two steals while making 14 of his 25 field-goal attempts. Legit 973 added 12 points, while Sick One filled the stat sheet with six points, nine boards, two assists, three steals and three blocks. JBM had 12 points, but he also lost the ball 10 times — that was key for the loss in Game 2. ReeseDaGod had 18 points and Dayfri contributed 12 points with 13 rebounds, but their efforts were not enough.

It’s worth noting that the Raptors are yet to lose a series in 2020. They are undefeated in league play, and they have won the two mid-season tournaments so far.
