Kings Guard Gaming and Warriors Gaming Squad got engaged in two tight contests, but the Kings came unscathed in both games and ended winning the series by a 2-0 score Friday night.
The Kings had to come from behind in Game 1, as the Warriors got off to a strong start and built a six-point lead following the first quarter (16-10). Kings Guard Gaming, however, responded in the second quarter and reduced the gap to just three points following a 15-12 second quarter. The third one finished tied at 15-15, so the Warriors had a three-point lead heading into the final minutes of action.
The Warriors couldn’t hold on to the lead, and the Kings took advantage of that to reduce the deficit all the way. Regulation ended 56-56, so the first matchup had to be decided in extra time. The Kings were far more decisive in OT, though, and limited the Warriors to just two points in that span. The Kings ended winning by a 64-58 score.
Bash had an impressive performance for Kings Guard Gaming, as he ended with 39 points, seven assists, and five steals. Dat Boy Shotz was the other Kings player who scored in double digits, and he chipped in with 14 points and 12 boards. CB13 (21 points, 11 assists) and Slaughter (10 points, 10 rebounds) had double-doubles for the losing cause, while Gradient finished with 11 points.
The Kings carried the momentum of Game 1 into the second contest of the series, and they jumped out to a 19-16 lead following the first quarter. The Warriors put up a fight, however, and turned things around between the second (12-10) and third quarters (18-13) — as a result, they were up by four points heading into the final quarter.
The Warriors couldn’t close things out, though, and the Kings came from behind to secure a 63-59 win thanks to a 21-13 fourth-quarter score. Bash and Yusuf_Scarbz made some clutch shots down the stretch to lift Kings Guard to the win and, ultimately, a semifinals berth in THE TURN powered by AT&T.
Bash registered 36 points with seven assists, while Dat Boy Shotz had another double-double — he contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. CB13 was the top scorer for the Warriors with 22 points and six dimes, while Slaughter contributed 16 points with 14 rebounds.
