Lakers Gaming Sweep Grizz Gaming

July 22, 2020

RotoWire — Juan Pablo Aravena

Lakers Gaming didn’t encounter major problems, scoring a 2-0 win over Grizz Gaming during their three-game set Wednesday in THE TURN. powered by AT&T.

The first game of the series started quite tight, as both teams went back and forth trying to establish the tone of the matchup. The Grizz jumped out to a 17-16 lead in the first few minutes, but the Lakers would establish supremacy before the break. A strong second-quarter effort gave them a commanding 14-point lead (41-27) following the first half. The Lakers would lose some of that momentum in the second half, but they still had enough to clinch the victory.

Indeed, the Grizz won the remaining two quarters — 20-15 and 11-8, respectively — but it wasn’t enough. The Lakers held on to their advantage despite the Grizz advances in the final minutes, and ended securing a 64-58 victory.

SAV paced the Lakers with 34 points and five assists, but the real star in this game was Dweq — he exploded for 15 points, 24 rebounds and four assists. Vandi (23 points, six assists) and JRod (18 points) paced Grizz Gaming, but their efforts weren’t enough to complete the second-half comeback.

Grizz Gaming seemed to carry the momentum from Game 1 into the second game, and they jumped out to a 16-11 lead in the first quarter. They would hold that five-point advantage following a 15-15 second quarter, but the Lakers would eventually turn the game around with an excellent performance (most notably on defense) during the second half.

Lakers Gaming took control of Game 2 with a 18-11 score in the third quarter, so they were up by two points entering the final minutes. They would extend that lead with a 20-15 score in the fourth quarter, so the Lakers ended winning by seven points. That margin, however, doesn’t do justice to what happened in the game. The Lakers ended winning rather comfortably.

SAV finished with 27 points and eight assists, while Tactuk notched 19 points and two blocks. Dweq only had nine points, but he added 19 points and five assists for the winning cause. As for Grizz Gaming, Vandi notched 30 points and five assists, while G O O F Y 7 5 7 had a complete effort in the loss. He finished with 16 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
