76ers GC downed Hawks Talon GC by a score of 68-56 on Day 1 of THE TURN, powered by AT&T. The Sixers will advance to face the winner of Pacers Gaming vs. Celtics Crossover Gaming, while the Hawks will head home after being eliminated from this week’s competition.
The Hawks struck first in this one, hammering home an easy dunk to get on the board. The Sixers would respond with a trey on the next possession, however, and they went on an 8-0 run, forcing Hawks Talon GC to call an early timeout. 76ers GC couldn’t be denied in the first six minutes of action, and they built a 15-9 lead heading into the second stanza.
The Hawks opened the second period with a slam, but the Sixers answered with a trey and a dunk of their own to increase their lead to 11. Turnovers killed Hawks Talon GC in the first half, as they committed nine as a team compared to just two by the Sixers. Things started to get out of hand down the stretch of the second quarter, and the 76ers would carry a dominant 37-16 lead into the half. They seemingly sucked the life out of the Hawks, who didn’t appear to be playing with much energy. Radiant led the Sixers with 17 while ZDS chipped in with 13. Arsonal put up seven points through two quarters of play for the Hawks.
Things didn’t get any easier for Hawks Talon GC in the second half, as the Sixers continued to pour it on. Rando showed some life midway through the third quarter with back-to-back threes followed by a three from DevGoss, but the Hawks were unable to cut the deficit down to single digits. 76ers GC held a commanding 53-37 lead heading into the final six minutes.
The backcourt for the Sixers continued to lead the way in the final period, closing out a 68-56 victory with a solid fourth quarter. 76ers GC only turned the ball over five times as a team, which was undoubtedly one of the keys to the game. The Hawks finished with 15 team turnovers. Radiant poured in a season-high 31 points and dished out seven assists, while ZDS finished the match-up with 18 on 7-for-11 from the field. Arsonal registered a double-double for the Hawks, racking up 18 points along with 16 boards. Dat Boy Shotz tacked on 17 points and Rando put up 12 in the losing effort.
