Celtics Crossover Gaming Score Second Straight Win Over Nets GC

May 9, 2019

Celtics Crossover Gaming’s chance at making a second straight tournament final will extend at least for one more day after running through the likes of Nets GC by a score of 73-39 during the play-in portion of the THE TURN, powered by AT&T, on Thursday.

It’s a tough break for Nets GC (2-4) who lost to Celtics Crossover Gaming (1-4) last week by a score of 65-59 during Week 4 of the NBA 2K League regular season, only to see the margin in this one-and-done tournament explode out of hand this time around.

Nets GC fought an uphill battle almost from the beginning, watching the likes of oFAB, MEL EAST and ProFusion pile on 17 of Boston’s 21 first-quarter points. That wouldn’t have been as serious of an issue if Nets GC didn’t post their lowest scoring quarter (seven points) since a Week 2 contest against Raptors Uprising GC.

The team from Brooklyn finally seemed to right the ship in the second quarter, but an inability to stop star point guard oFAB meant that Nets GC would continue to trade baskets for essentially the ensuing six minutes, failing to make any sort of headway on the deficit.

By the end of the second quarter, oFAB had 12 points on 5-of-8 from the field while Celtics Crossover Gaming sported a fairly insurmountable 31-20 halftime lead.

An 18-9 third-quarter run decimated Nets GC’s morale, effectively ending the game before the final quarter took place. oFAB would finish with 30 points, including 5-of-9 from three-point land, and 15 assists while the entire Celtics Crossover Gaming starting roster would register double-digit points.

Nets GC point guard Wavy.zay was startling ineffective, scoring just two points (1-5 FG) and committing a ghastly eight turnovers, including six within the first 12 minutes of the game while NateKahl would lead his team in scoring (13 points) and steals (three) in a relatively mundane effort.
