76ers GC took home a thrilling 55-51 victory over Celtics Crossover Gaming on Friday in Game 1 of their semifinal series in the 2019 2K League Playoffs.
It wasn’t a great start to Friday’s outing for 76ers GC, who are coming off a two-game sweep of Pacers Gaming on Wednesday. Time had barely ticked off the clock before they found themselves down 9-0 to Celtics Crossover gaming, but that quick start appeared to have sparked something for them on defense, as 76ers GC brought tremendous pressure for the remainder of the contest.
The immediate result was a 12-2 run from 76ers GC that brought them right back into the game, and for the remainder of the contest, the two teams traded leads a countless number of times with neither able to get a strong advantage on the scoreboard. After being up two points at half, Celtics Crossover Gaming found themselves down by a point heading into the fourth quarter.
The game essentially came down to a sequence with just over 30 seconds remaining in the game where 76ers GC had a three-point lead and the ball in the closing moments. Celtics Crossover Gaming played stellar defense and forced shooting guard Newdini33 into a contested shot, but he got his own rebound and called timeout.
The next possession resulted in sharpshooter ZDS drilling a deep three, putting his team up six, and the game out of reach for Celtics Crossover Gaming.
ZDS shouldered most of the load offensively for 76ers GC, scoring a game-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. His point guard and MVP candidate Radiant was in full control as always, posting 14 points and 12 assists, while Newdini33 added 11 points of his own.
Meanwhile, Celtics Crossover Gaming’s offense turned into a two-man game with 76ers GC’s defense locking down the shooters on the wing. oFAB posted a team-high 19 points, although it took him 17 shots to get there, on top of 11 assists. Majority of those assists went to center NO xAUTOGRAPHSx courtesy of their pick-and-roll game, as the big man scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed six rebounds.
