CLTX Gaming Cruises Through Mavs Gaming in Game 1

July 24, 2019

Celtics Crossover Gaming’s postseason debut could not have gone much better Wednesday, as they took Game 1 over Mavs Gaming with a 63-55 victory in Round 1 of the 2K League Playoffs.

This was a wire-to-wire victory for Celtics Crossover Gaming, who, despite being the No. 7 seed in the postseason, were viewed as one of the league’s elite teams after winning seven of their last eight contests. Wednesday’s victory was their second of the season over Mavs Gaming, and they now have a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three series.

After Celtics Crossover Gaming jumped out to an early lead, Mavs Gaming just simply could not get into a good-enough rhythm to get over the hump and take control of the game, but they did make it interesting a few times.

Late in Wednesday’s contest, it looked like Celtics Crossover Gaming was going to finally pull away and win this one with ease, but Mavs Gaming picked up the tempo and went on one last run. Down by five points with 40 seconds left, they blocked a layup attempt by Celtics Crossover Gaming star point guard oFAB and had a chance to cut it to a one possession game with enough time to get the ball back. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t even get the ball past halfcourt, turning it over on a pass.

From there, oFAB took the ball in himself and converted a dunk while getting fouled to put the game out of reach. Mavs Gaming never got it closer than three points.

Point guard oFAB was sensational in his playoff debut, posting his ninth double-double of the season with a game-high 22 points and 11 assists. The typically reliable scoring duo of MEL EAST and ProFusion combined to score just 14 points Wednesday, so it was the frontcourt that had to pick up some slack, with center NO xAUTOGRAPHSx posting 14 points on 7-of-7 shooting and 13 rebounds and power forward Bulleyy adding 13 points.

For Mavs Gaming, they didn’t play much worse than their opponents Wednesday, but Celtics Crossover Gaming came through with the timely, winning plays in the end. Point guard Dimez struggled, shooting just 3-of-9 from the field for seven points while posting nine assists to five turnovers. PeteBeBallin led the way scoring with 16 points on top of nine rebounds.
