Hornets Venom GT and Lakers Gaming squared off in the final series of Week 8 in the NBA 2K League. Game 1 went the way of Hornets Venom GT, 63-57, thanks to a solid defensive performance. Game 2 went the way of Hornets Venom GT once more, as they took the win and the sweep, 74-71.
Game 1 started with Hornets Venom GT controlling the match and forcing a defensive game that Lakers Gaming didn’t seem comfortable with. The Lakers found their rhythm in the second quarter, putting up 23 points and bringing the deficit to two points at halftime. The second half saw Lakers Gaming keeping the tempo high and refusing to let Hornets Venom GT get into their style. In the end the Hornets slowed the game back down and leaned on their elite defense en route to a 63-57 win in Game 1.
Sherm led the way with 23 points while rigby continued his dominance, putting up 22 points in the cagey match. ReeseDaGod was excellent for Lakers Gaming in the loss, putting up 28 points. Tactuk added an 18-point, 11-assist double-double.
Game 2 opened with a rejuvenated Hornets Venom GT, who came out on fire, putting up 21 points and racing out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter. Lakers Gaming seemed to have no answer for Hornets Venom GT, stepping up the pace and matching fire with fire. The Hornets survived a second-half comeback from Lakers Gaming, who put up a 43-point second half to bring the game within three. In the end, Hornets Venom GT took the win and the sweep, 74-71.
Rigby led the way for Hornets Venom Gt with 31 points, while Sherm put together a 16-point, 11-assist double-double. It was ReeseDaGod and Tactuk once more carrying Lakers Gaming, with the former putting up 38 points and Tactuk tallying 16 points and 14 rebounds.
