Gen. G Tigers Dispatch Grizz Gaming in Three

Grizz Gaming faced off against Gen.G Tigers on Tuesday in a matchup of .500 teams, as both sported 4-4 records entering the contest. Grizz Gaming began the game with a narrow 17-16 lead but pushed that margin up to 11 at halftime with a big 23-13 second quarter, highlighted by a Vandi steal and dunk, an AuthenticAfrican buzzer-beating floater and a couple highlight jams from GOOFY757. Grizz Gaming extended its lead to 13 points heading into the fourth quarter and finished the game strong to get the victory in Game 1.
Vandi led the way with 33 points and nine assists, and AuthenticAfrican totaled 17. GOOFY757 came through in a big way with an 11-point, 16-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. For Gen. G, ShiftyKaii scored 21 points to go with eight assists and six steals, while Deadeye finished with a triple-double of his own thanks to a massive 20-point, 19-rebound, 10-assist stat line.
Game 2 began with a high-scoring first quarter as both teams came out firing. Up 13-11 midway through the quarter, Grizz Gaming hit back-to-back triples to go up 19-11 before Gen.G responded with a bucket. Grizz Gaming went up 23-15 late, and Gen.G came away with a three off of a big offensive rebound. Gen.G played solid defense during Grizz Gaming’s final possession to force a poor shot, and the first quarter ended with Grizz Gaming up 23-18. Vandi led all scorers with 11 points in the opening quarter. Grizz Gaming started the second quarter on an 11-1 run to go up 34-19, and Gen.G didn’t score its first bucket until just over two minutes remaining in the period. Another big run propelled Grizz Gaming to a 46-29 halftime lead with Vandi pouring in 20 points through two quarters.
ShiftyKaii scored 14 points in the third quarter to bring his total to 27 and pull Gen.G to within 65-56 and cut into the 17-point halftime deficit. Gen.G was relentless in the fourth quarter, slowly eating into the lead to tie the game at 71-71 with two minutes to play. Grizz Gaming went up 76-74 late, but a clutch three-pointer with just over half a minute remaining put Gen.G up 77-76 and proved to be the go-ahead bucket. ShiftyKaii finished with a game-high 35 points, while Deadeye posted a triple-double for the second straight game.
For Grizz Gaming, Vandi totaled 32 points, while GOOFY757 pulled down 17 boards.
Gen.G used the momentum from Game 2 to go up 45-34 at halftime of Game 3, as ShiftyKaii scored 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting. A 10-point third quarter from Vandi led Grizz Gaming back to cut the lead to 55-51 heading into the final frame. Grizz Gaming kept the score within four points into the final minute of the contest, but Gen.G closed out the decisive game with a 71-65 victory to win the series 2-1. ShiftyKaii led all scorers with 37 points, and Deadeye grabbed at least 10 boards for the third game in a row. Vandi paced Grizz Gaming with 32 points, AuthenticAfrican managed 18 and GOOFY757 finished with 16 rebounds.
Gen.G improves to 5-4 on the season, while Grizz Gaming falls to 4-5. Grizz Gaming will face Knicks Gaming on Wednesday, and Gen.G will face Jazz Gaming on Friday.
