NetsGC were vying for a playoff berth in their regular-season finale, but they failed to accomplish that goal and lost a nail-biting series against Hornets Venom by a 2-1 final score.

The Hornets looked like the better team from the start of the series, and they were in control through much of Game 1 — they jumped out to a 20-14 lead following the first quarter and were up by nine points by halftime. The Hornets didn’t take the foot off the gas, though, and won the remaining two quarters as well — 17-14 and 20-18. As a result, the Hornets Venom cruised their way to a comfortable 70-56 victory in Game 1.

Snubby was the best player for the Hornets in Game 1, and he finished with 24 points and six assists. Type also posted a strong performance with 26 points and 12 boards, while Expose contributed 11 points. Choc paced the Nets with 23 points and 10 assists, but his efforts were not enough — at least in Game 1. Shuttles also contributed with a 16-point, 16-rebound double-double.

The Nets knew they had their backs against the wall in Game 2, and that sense of urgency was noticeable. They jumped out to a 17-16 lead in the first quarter, but they would pull away for good with a 22-8 second quarter. The Hornets tried to respond in the second half and were dominant down the stretch, winning the fourth quarter by a 22-9 score. The Nets held on, however, and forced a do-or-die Game 3 after a 67-64 win.

Choc led the Nets with 29 points and 10 dimes in Game 2, while Shuttles contributed 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Randomz started Game 2 and left his mark as well, scoring 14 points while shooting 6-of-9 from the field. Snubby and Expose each scored 18 points for the Hornets, while Type posted a triple-double after finishing with 11 points, 18 boards, and 10 assists.

Game 3 would define the Nets’ fate this season, and they looked a bit more nervous than usual. After an 18-18 first quarter, the Hornets would grab the lead by six points at the break (following a 20-14 second quarter) and they’d never look back. The Nets did everything they could to even things up, but they fell short in the fourth quarter and had to settle for a 79-70 loss. With this series defeat, the Nets’ chances of reaching the playoffs have come to an end.

Snubby had 28 points for the Hornets, while Expose contributed 23 and Zae notched 17 points. Type only scored eight points, but he added 12 boards and eight dimes. Choc had 29 points and 11 assists for the Nets, but he couldn’t carry the team on his own. Randomz had 17 points, while Shuttle chipped in with a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double.
