RotoWire – Juan Pablo Aravena
Wizards District Gaming didn’t have major problems in the win over Gen.G Tigers on Thursday, running away with back-to-back victories to earn a 2-0 series win.
The Wizards got off to a slow start in Game 1, and the Tigers took advantage of that to secure a two-point lead after the first quarter (21-19). That would be all the edge they’d enjoy, however, as the Wizards responded with a 21-9 second quarter that set the tone for the rest of the game. The Wizards didn’t stop there, however, and also won the third (23-19) and fourth (23-13) quarters by comfortable margins. They ended up winning Game 1 by an expressive 86-62 that reflected perfectly what happened on the hardwood.
JBM was the top player for the Wizards in Game 1, notching 40 points and adding seven assists while making 15 of his 23 field goal attempts. ReeseDaGod had 15 points, Just_Awkward delivered 14 points and Dayfri filled the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals. ShiftyKaii was the Tigers’ top performer with 20 points and 10 assists, while Deadeye also registered a double-double (13 points, 10 boards).
The Wizards carried the momentum of Game 1 into the second game of the series, and they established dominance thanks to a 21-7 lead. They stretched that advantage to 22 points by halftime, as they led 42-20. The Tigers would show signs of life in the second half, but it wouldn’t be enough to mount a comeback.
The Wizards won the third quarter by just one point (18-17) but the Tigers responded with all they got in the final quarter. They won the final frame by a 20-8 score, but it wasn’t enough to turn things around. The Wizards closed things out with ease, winning Game 2 by a 68-57 score.
JBM was the best player for the Wizards once again, as he finished with 28 points and nine assists, while ReeseDaGod supported him with a 14-point performance. Dayfri filled the stat sheet once again, and he ended with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four blocks and four steals. ShiftyKaii paced Gen.G with 15 points and nine dimes, but it wasn’t enough. Four of the Tigers’ four starters scored 10 points or more, with the only exception being TURNUPDEFENSE (five points).
