Raptors Uprising GC Reclaim Scoring Record, Sweep Pacers Gaming

July 16, 2020

RotoWire – Jason Shebilske

Raptors Uprising GC have been consistently dominant in 2020, and they continued that dominance Thursday with a sweep against Pacers Gaming.

The Raptors got off to a hot start in Game 1 by going on a 15-5 run over the first several minutes. They missed several open shots over the quarter, but they were able to shut down the Pacers’ offense to cruise to a 22-9 lead at the end of the frame as Pacers Gaming went just 4-for-12 from the field. Raptors Uprising GC went on a 12-2 run to begin the second quarter, and even though the Pacers were able to find their offensive footing later in the quarter, they also committed five turnovers during the second quarter. The Raptors led 48-26 at the half behind a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double from Sick One as he was perfect from the floor during the first half.

It was Kenny Got Work’s turn to take over the spotlight for the Raptors in the third quarter, and he went 8-for-10 from the floor to score 19 points in the frame. The blowout continued with the Raptors holding a 74-41 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Raptors continued their high field goal efficiency during the fourth quarter, and they had a chance to reclaim the single-game scoring record that they lost to Bucks Gaming earlier in Season 3. The Raptors elected not to foul late in the game, but they were still able to set the record with a three-pointer as time expired to give them a 112-62 win. Kenny Got Work was able to record a double-double for the Raptors with 44 points and 10 assists, and Sick One nearly logged a triple-double as he finished with 26 points, 17 rebounds and eight assists along with four steals. WoLF led Pacers Gaming with a 24-point, 13-rebound double-double, but he was unable to get enough help from his teammates during the first game.

Pacers Gaming put up a much more formidable fight as Game 2 began. The Pacers went on an 11-6 run over the first three minutes of the game while forcing the Raptors to settle for much tougher shots. The Raptors went 6-for-14 from the field over the first quarter as the Pacers finished the quarter with a 21-15 lead. Raptors Uprising GC provided some resistance over the start of the second quarter, going on a 13-4 run as they converted on their first four field goals of the quarter. However, the Pacers were able to calibrate and came back to secure a 39-38 lead at halftime. Jomar led the way for the Pacers in the first half with 25 points, while WoLF was able to bring in 12 rebounds.

The Raptors took over in the second half, starting the third quarter on a 14-6 run before jumping out to a 64-55 lead at the end of the quarter as they went 11-for-14 on their field goals. Although the Pacers were efficient by converting 77.8 percent of their shots, they committed seven turnovers and simply didn’t get enough scoring chances to keep up. Over the fourth quarter, the Pacers were unable to slow down the momentum that the Raptors had built up, and Raptors Uprising GC secured the sweep with a 95-80 victory in the second game. Raptors Uprising GC once again finished with four players who had double-digit scoring totals, getting especially strong results from Kenny Got Work (41 points, nine rebounds) and Sick One (21 points, 14 rebounds). For the Pacers, Jomar had one of his most productive games of his career with 39 points and eight assists, while he got help via a 14-point, 16-rebound double-double from WoLF, but they were unable to do enough to overcome the Raptors.

After Raptors Uprising GC won THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T, each team’s next action will come in THE TURN, powered by AT&T, which begins Wednesday. Once the regular season resumes, Raptors Uprising GC (13-0) will continue their quest for an undefeated season July 29 against Kings Guard GC, while Pacers Gaming (4-9) will look to regain some momentum against Knicks Gaming the same night.
