RotoWire – Juan Pablo Aravena
Magic Gaming had to come from behind in Game 1, as Heat Check Gaming jumped out to a 16-14 lead in the first quarter. The Heat would push that advantage even further in the second quarter, as they went into the break holding a strong eight-point lead. Magic Gaming, however, began to show comeback potential in the third quarter and closed the gap by just one point.
Magic Gaming left the best for last, though. They smothered the Heat defensively and were on a roll on offense, scoring 31 points — more than what they scored in the entire first half — to come away with the win by an expressive 81-65 score. Things clearly weren’t as one-sided as the final score made it seem to be, though.
Reizey was a one-man show for the Magic and finished with 43 points and eight assists, while also adding two steals for the winning side. He received decent support from both DT (20 points, 12 rebounds) and May (11 points, five rebounds, two assists). Hotshot finished with a double-double for the Heat thanks to 24 points and 14 rebounds, while GlennRatty notched 16 points and eight assists, but also turned the ball over four times.
The Magic carried the momentum from their Game 1 comeback into Game 2, and they grabbed a 37-27 lead following the first half, as Reizey scored 26 points in the first two quarters alone. The star point guard nearly outscored Heat Check Gaming, and that trend continued in the second half.
The Heat tried to mount a comeback and looked able to shorten the gap at times, but the Magic were just too much for them. The third quarter ended tied at 16 apiece, meaning Heat Check Gaming had to overcome a 10-point deficit in the final minutes of the game. They weren’t able to complete that goal and ended losing the game — and the series — by a 80-64 score.
Somehow, Reizey managed to do an even better job in Game 2 and finished with 53 points, controlling the game from start to finish. The star point guard also added five assists. DT had another double-double since he ended with 14 points and 15 rebounds, but he also added six assists and five steals. GlennRatty notched 22 points and 11 assists for Heat Check Gaming, while Hotshot added 15 points with 12 boards. Those efforts were not enough, though.
