Knicks Gaming (5-6) took on Lakers Gaming (2-9) in the final game of Week 8. Game 1 was hard fought from the opening tip, as Lakers Gaming grabbed an early 19-15 lead after the first quarter and a 36-28 halftime lead thanks to five points in the final minute of the second quarter. SAV and Dweq led the way, with 13 and 12 points respectively. Despite the first-half success, it was all Knicks from there. The team outscored Lakers Gaming 49-31 in the second half, including 26-11 in the deciding fourth quarter. Duck scored 36 points, OriginalMalik went for 19 and CantGuardRob went for a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double. SAV played strong minutes for Lakers Gaming in the loss, providing 27 points and 11 assists, while Dweq notched a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Game 2 started out with a narrow Knicks lead through the first quarter, but Lakers Gaming took a 33-31 halftime lead thanks to a 9-2 run to close out the second quarter. SAV and Duck went back and forth in the first half, with each of them scoring 15 points. In the second half, Lakers Gaming went up 43-38 midway through the third quarter, but Knicks Gaming went on an 8-3 run to notch the score at 46. A SAV and-one gave Lakers Gaming the lead again, and the team went up 51-49 before the final quarter.
Knicks Gaming kept the score close throughout the fourth quarter, and cut the lead to 69-68 with 30 seconds to play. SAV quickly knocked down a three on the opposite end of the floor and essentially sealed the win with a 72-68 lead. Lakers Gaming won by a final score of 76-72, as SAV erupted for 43 points and 10 assists, and Dweq provided 10 points and 14 rebounds. For Knicks Gaming, Duck went for 23 points, and CantGuardRob totaled 20 points and 19 rebounds.
With the series even at one game each, the teams headed to a decisive Game 3. Lakers Gaming got out to a 30-24 halftime lead behind SAV’s 14-point effort. The second half was delayed due to a restart, but when the game resumed, it was a close one down to the wire. Tied at 53 late, Truth hit a triple to go up 56-53. Lakers Gaming went 1-of-2 at the foul line, and Knicks Gaming hit one more big 3-pointer to extend the lead to 59-54 with just 12 seconds remaining, and that was the final score. Knicks Gaming took the series win and improves to 6-6 on the year, while Lakers Gaming falls to 2-10.
