Heat Check Gaming mounted a huge comeback in Game 1 to defeat the Gen.G Tigers, although the Shanghai-founded club jumped to a huge 15-point lead following the first quarter (39-25). The Heat, however, began their comeback trail in the second quarter after topping that frame by a 15-8 score. The Tigers tried to keep their lead intact, but failed to do so as the game progressed. They eventually crumbled in the second half.
The Heat shortened the gap after a 19-15 third-quarter score, and they ended turning things down the stretch. Heat Check Gaming tightened things up defensively in the final six minutes of action and limited the Tigers to just four points in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of their own. The result? A huge comeback win for Heat Check Gaming by a 70-66 score.
All five Heat Check Gaming members scored in double digits, led by GlennRatty who notched 23 points while shooting 9-of-18 from the field. TBShiftay added 12 points and Hotshot chipped in with a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double. At the other end, ShiftyKaii carried the Tigers’ offense with 43 points and six assists, but he was the only Tiger who scored 10 or more points.
The Heat carried the momentum into the second match of the series, although this contest was tighter than the first one. Heat Check Gaming gained a 10-9 lead after the first quarter, and they increased that slim margin after a 15-13 second quarter. Heat Check Gaming pulled away in the third quarter, though, and a 19-12 lead saw them head into the final quarter with a 10-point lead.
The Tigers attempted a comeback and came a few buckets away from forcing a decisive Game 3. The Heat Check Gaming, however, closed things out and pumped the brakes on their rivals with a victory by a 61-57.
GlennRatty finished with 44 points and carried Heat Check Gaming in this win. No other Heat player scored in double digits, but it was clear they didn’t need that. ShiftyKaii had 26 points for the losing team. Gen had 15 points, and Deadeye notched 13 points with 10 rebounds.
