Knicks Gaming were in cruise control during Game 1, quickly jumping to a 24-20 lead in the first quarter and they’d never let that advantage go away. They further enhanced that advantage after the second quarter (20-15) and, despite the fact Grizz Gaming tried to turn things around with a 18-16 third quarter, the Knicks didn’t hesitate to pull the game away in the final six minutes of action. A 20-19 fourth quarter pushed the Knicks to a 80-72 win, aided by their excellent shooting figures — they went 33-of-54 from the field and 8-for-15 from three-point range. The Knicks also committed just five turnovers — in comparison, Grizz Gaming’s point guard, Vandi, also lost the ball five times on his own.
Duck led the Knicks in Game 1 with 38 points and nine assists, while BigRiM provided a strong effort with 19 points on 7-of-9 from the field as a small forward. CantGuardRob, who has been a double-double machine this season, posted 16 points with 15 boards. Vandi provided 36 points and 12 assists despite his five turnovers to lead Grizz Gaming in the loss.
Things seemed to follow the same course in Game 1, as the first six minutes of action ended 20-20 but the Knicks looked better overall. Grizz Gaming woke up when they needed it the most, however, and pulled away thanks to a 28-16 second quarter. That 12-point advantage would be everything they’d need to even the series up. The Knicks looked far better in the second half and won the remaining two quarters (21-16 and 22-20, respectively) but that wasn’t enough. Grizz Gaming tightened things up defensively when it mattered the most and, despite suffering more than expected, forced a decisive Game 3 thanks to a 84-79 win.
Vandi committed five turnovers once again, but he was Grizz Gaming’s best player since he ended with 43 points, nine assists and six steals. AuthenticAfrican added 14 points, and DDouble posted 13 points, five boards and three assists. G O O F Y 7 5 7 filled the stat sheet admirably and finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and six dimes. Duck (40 points) and OriginalMalik (21 points) paced the Knicks in the loss.
Grizz Gaming carried the momentum from Game 2 and jumped to an impressive 25-11 lead following the first quarter. However, Knicks Gaming decided it was time to stop the bleeding and reduced the gap to just one point at halftime thanks to an impressive second-quarter performance (24-11). In a back-and-forth contest, Grizz Gaming once again gained 12-point advantage by the end of the third quarter (24-12) — in fact, they led by as much as 15 points early in the fourth quarter and by 19 with 3:46 minutes left.
The Knicks attempted a comeback down the stretch and made it as close as seven points with under one minute left, but it was just too late for them. Grizz Gaming had pulled away for good and didn’t have major issues to claim the win in Game 3, as well as the series, by a 84-70 score.
As was the trend during the entire three-game set, Vandi once again led Grizz Gaming by example — he nearly finished Game 3 with a triple-double after posting 42 points, nine assists and nine steals. AuthenticAfrican had 27 points while shooting 10-of-11 from the field, and G O O F Y 7 5 7 contributed eight points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five blocks. Duck struggled massively for Knicks Gaming in Game 3, finishing with almost the same number of points (15) than turnovers (12) and also committed six fouls. OriginalMalik had 28 points but only made 10 of his 21 field goal attempts.
