Mavs Gaming took on Pistons GT in the opening game of Week 6 in a highly-competitive and exciting matchup. Pistons GT started Game 1 well, jumping out to a 42-37 lead at halftime. Mavs Gaming responded in the third quarter to cut the lead to one before the decisive fourth quarter. The game came down to the final minute, with Sherm playing hero ball in this one. Down 73-72, he drove the lane and hit a go-ahead layup to take the lead for good. All of Sherm’s 40 points and seven assists were needed in the come-from-behind victory, and the point guard led all scorers in the contest. DImez chipped in 12 points and three steals, while PeteBeBallin added a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double. Pistons GT got contributions across the board, though the well-balanced attack came up short. DevGoss led the scoring charge for Detroit with 20 points, Charger x 704 managed 19 points, Demon JT added 18 and five assists and Ramo went off for a triple-double thanks to 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Game 2 was another tightly-contested matchup, with both teams trading buckets in the first half to head into the break tied at 31 apiece. Pistons GT used a 14-11 third quarter to head into the final frame in the lead for the second game in a row. Once again, Mavs Gaming relied on a strong fourth quarter and clutch play down the stretch. Up 59-57 with just 12 seconds to go, Mavs Gaming took a contested layup with the shot clock running down, and PeteBeBallin grabbed a huge offensive board before being fouled. Sherm took the ensuing inbounds pass and sunk two free throws to make it a two-possession game. Pistons GT quickly scored, fouled and got the ball back before getting a final look at a tying three. The shot rattled out to seal the victory for Mavs Gaming, who took the series in a two-game sweep.

Sherm led all scorers again with 28 points, while Dimez ended with 21. PeteBeBallin corralled nine rebounds and swatted four shots. For Pistons GT, Demon JT posted 21 points, and Ramo managed 16 points and 10 rebounds. With the victory, Mavs Gaming improves to 6-2 as one of the best teams in the 2K League, while Pistons GT sinks to 1-6 on the season.
