Raptors Uprising GC Surgers to 7-0 in 2-0 Sweep of NetsGC

June 5, 2020

Rotowire

Raptors Uprising GC came into Friday’s game as one of two unbeaten teams in the league and looked to go 7-0 against a surging Nets GC squad that would play their third game in four days. The success of Toronto’s press defense was on full display in this series, and the Nets became the seventh team to fall victim to the Raptors in a 2-0 sweep.

While Toronto was in control for most of the first game, the Nets produced the shot of the week, if not the year. At the end of the third quarter, Choc threw up a shot from beyond the half-court line with time expiring and it fell, nothing but net. Despite that impressive moment, the Nets dropped the first game to the Raptors, 84-71. Kenny Got Work led the Raptors as expected, tallying 32 points, seven assists and three steals. ReeceMode recorded 25 points, which included a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, and Sick One had a huge game under the basket, recording the a triple-double. Choc posted a 32-point, 10-rebound double-double for NetsGC, while Shuttles recorded the only other double-digit scoring performance with a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double. Choc committed a costly seven turnovers in the contest as he struggled at times against Toronto’s relentless defense.

Choc came out of the gate hot in Game 2, scoring 12 of Brooklyn’s 16 points in the early going. The Raptors then rattled off a 7-0 run to close the gap in the second quarter. The Nets were successful in giving Raptors Uprising a taste of their own medicine as they ramped up their half-court defense in the first half and held the lead at halftime, 36-32. Toronto’s third-quarter play has been spectacular all season, and Friday’s game was no exception as the Raptors took control, surging to a 60-50 lead going into the fourth. Things got out of control for the Nets in the fourth, as the Raptors lit up with multiple takeovers early in the stanza, making them virtually unstoppable. The Nets tried to get it close, but Raptors Uprising completed the sweep with a 79-72 win. Kenny Got Work went off for 43 points and seven assists, and Sick One lit up the boards again with a 12/13 double-double.

Raptors Uprising (7-0) will take on Blazer5 Gaming next Thursday, while Nets GC (3-2) will square off against Hawks Talon GC next Tuesday.
