Riding high from a surprise victory over Blazer5 Gaming to close out Week 4, Jazz Gaming squared off against the winless Lakers in what proved to be an exciting contest. Lakers Gaming came out hot to open Game 1, jumping out to a 21-12 lead after the first quarter. However, a big second quarter from Jazz Gaming cut the lead to just two at halftime. After the break, it was all Jazz. Utah used a 43-28 second-half advantage to take Game 1 76-63. Shooting was the key factor for Jazz Gaming in this one, as the team shot a combined 70 percent from the floor – including perfect efforts from Lotty (11-for-11) and Ria (5-for-5) – and drained nine triples. Lotty finished with 25 points and nine assists, Yeah I Compete and Splashy each contributed 18, and Ria double-doubled with 10 points and 16 boards to go with four rejections. While efficient shooting and well-rounded team ball prevailed for Utah, it was a one-man show for Los Angeles. SAV scored a game-high 38 points, while no other member of the team scored more than nine.

Game 2 started out close, with Utah up 17-16 after the first quarter. Splashy scored seven in the opening period, while Lakers Gaming’s RAV stayed hot with eight of his own. Jazz Gaming got out to a quick start in the second quarter, but Lakers Gaming tied it up at 28 late in the period. Utah finished strong before halftime to take a 35-30 lead. As was the case in Game 1, Jazz Gaming controlled the second half, taking a 52-42 lead after the third quarter and finishing with a 73-60 victory to complete the sweep. Utah got another balanced attack from its starters, but it was Ria who stole the show with his 21-point, 14-rebound, 10-assist triple double. Splashy scored 19, Lotty chipped in 13 and Yeah I Compete added 11. SAV double-doubled with 25 points and 10 assists, while Tactuk and Kev went for 10 points apiece.

With the loss, Lakers Gaming falls to 0-8 and remains one of just three teams without a win in 2K League play this season. Jazz Gaming improves to 3-1 with the sweep.
