Grizz Gaming was finally able to come together for their first win of the season Thursday by sweeping Lakers Gaming, whose early-season troubles continued.

In Game 1, Grizz Gaming managed to cultivate a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter of Game 1, and that margin held until halftime, when Memphis led 35-30. Lakers Gaming trimmed their deficit to one point at the end of the third quarter, but the Los Angeles club once again struggled during the fourth quarter as Grizz Gaming picked up a 67-60 win.

Vandi served as the heart of Grizz Gaming’s offense during the first game, recording 29 points, six assists and one rebound. G O O F Y 7 5 7 was productive with 10 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, while DDouble converted on 75 percent of his field goal attempts en route to 15 points and five rebounds. Despite serving as one of Lakers Gaming’s top performers, SAV was somewhat held in check with 31 points and 10 assists. Tactuk contributed seven points, 10 rebounds and three blocks while Vert finished with 13 points and two steals despite shooting just 5-of-11 from the field.

Game 2 was completely dominated by Grizz Gaming from start to finish. Memphis outscored the Lakers 27-9 in the first quarter and never looked back. As a team, Grizz Gaming managed to secure 29 rebounds, 10 assists and five blocks while shooting 44-of-64 from the floor. They challenged the NBA 2K League single-game scoring record of 108 points but fell just short in their dominant 103-56 win.

Grizz Gaming had two players top 30 points during their masterful Game 2 performance. Jrod shot 7-for-10 from beyond the arc, finishing with 31 points along with two steals and two assists. Vandi also logged 31 points, 12 assists and three steals. G O O F Y 7 5 7 picked up a triple-double with 18 points, 18 rebounds and 12 assists, while AuthenticAfrican had 16 points, three assists and two steals. For Lakers Gaming, SAV was just 12-for-26 from the floor with 30 points and eight assists. Mootyy managed to salvage 12 points, but the team was unable to put much together once again.

Grizz Gaming will look to build on their momentum Tuesday against Celtics Crossover Gaming. Lakers Gaming’s next test will come Wednesday against the Boston club.
