Wizards District Gaming picked up a hard-fought 2-0 sweep over Hornets Venom GT to conclude Week 3 play Friday.

Wizards District had to battle back from a five-point deficit early in Game 1, only scoring 10 points in the first quarter. Down only two by the end of the first half at 29-27, Wizards District took command of the game in the second half. Led by point guard JBM, who picked up a 27-point, 14-assist double-double, the Wizards dominated the paint, allowing center Dayfri some space to put up a 19-point, 14-rebound double-double of his own.

Hornets Venom put up a decent fight near the end, with the backcourt duo of point guard Snubby and shooting guard Expose combining for 50 of Hornets Venom GT’s 69 points in Game 1. The Hornets couldn’t do anything about the Wizards dominating the boards and assists, though, and so the Wizards took Game 1 75-69.

In Game 2, the Wizards started on top, taking a 31-26 lead into the second half. In the third quarter, though, the Hornets caught fire. Propelled by Expose, who finished with a team-high 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting, Hornets Venom GT dominated the quarter 20-9 heading into the fourth.

All the Hornets needed to do was hold onto their lead, but the Wizards defensive effort turned things around. Wizards District Gaming won the fourth quarter 19-10, led by JBM, who scored a game-high 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting, as the Wizards pulled ahead with a few minutes left in the game. The Hornets had a chance to tie things up late, but a crucial steal by Shooting Guard Just_Awkward with just a few seconds to go sealed the 59-56 win for the Wizards’ 2-0 sweep.
