May 19, 2020
Warriors Gaming Squad defeated Lakers Gaming 2-0 during their Week 3 matchup Tuesday night.
Warriors Gaming Squad and Lakers Gaming endured a tight battle in the first game of the series Tuesday, but the Warriors prevailed in the end. Warriors Gaming jumped out to a 23-13 lead following the first quarter and while the rest of the game would go back and forth, they would never relinquish that initial advantage. Lakers Gaming won the second (19-17) and third (15-12) quarters, meaning they entered the final period down by just five points. Warriors Gaming responded with a 17-13 fourth-quarter score, however, as they tightened things up down the stretch to earn a 69-60 win in Game 1.
CB13 paced Warriors Gaming Squad with 29 points and four assists, while Bsmoove notched 20 points while shooting 9-of-14 from the field. Slaughter was dominant in the paint thanks to a 16-point, 25-rebound double-double. SAV led the Lakers with 27 points and six assists, while Dweq added 15 points from the point guard position. Tactuk might have scored just five points, but he attacked the glass constantly and registered 17 rebounds.
Warriors Gaming carried their momentum to Game 2 and kicked things off with a 27-13 first squad. That 14-point differential would be everything they’d need to secure the victory, although they also helped themselves by looking solid the rest of the way. Warriors Gaming won the second quarter by a 19-15 score, and pulled away even further with a 27-12 third-quarter score. Lakers Gaming entered the fourth quarter down 33 points and needed a miracle to turn things around in the final minutes, something that didn’t happen. Instead, Warriors Gaming crushed an already-defeated Lakers side in the final minutes and won the game by an expressive 105-47 score after a 32-7 fourth quarter. Thus, Warriors Gaming won the series easily 2-0.
CB13 had one of the best individual performances of the season after finishing with 53 points on 23-of-36 from the field, but he also added 10 assists. Bsmoove notched 15 points, Gradient added 13, Jin posted 14 points and Slaughter had 10, but he also added 23 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks. SAV scored 27 points for the Lakers, but he was the only player who reached double-digit scoring on an anemic team that shot 18-of-48 from the field as a whole.
Lakers Gaming will try to bounce back next week, when they take on Pistons GT on May 27. On the other hand, Warriors Gaming Squad next matchup will come June 4 against Hawks Talon GC.
