Kings Guard Gaming Bounces Back from Disappointing Start to Pick Up Sweep against Lakers Gaming

May 7, 2020

Rotowire

After being swept on Opening Night, Kings Guard Gaming appeared to be on a similar track against Lakers Gaming after LKG jumped out to a 37-24 lead at the end of the first half of Game 1. However, Kings Guard Gaming was able to get things going and picked up the sweep as they overcame deficits in each contest.

Lakers Gaming opened their season with a bang by jumping out to a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but they were unable to seal the deal as Kings Guard Gaming secured a 64-60 win. Bash was key in igniting Kings Guard Gaming’s scoring, finishing Game 1 with 18 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, which helped to make up for his team-leading eight turnovers. Yusuf_Scarbz (12 points, 14 rebounds, two assists) and Seem, with 23 points, also made significant contributions for the Kings in their comeback victory.

For Lakers Gaming, Sav led all scorers with 27 points and kicked in five assists. Tactuk was productive across the board, finishing Game 1 with 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and four steals. However, their efforts weren’t enough to overcome their team’s struggles from beyond the arc: LKG converted only five of their 14 three-point attempts.

Game 2 was plagued by connectivity issues during the first quarter, but the storyline was nearly the same, as the Kings were able to overcome a significant first-quarter deficit to pick up the sweep with a 66-58 win.

Sav had another big game for Lakers Gaming, leading all scorers with a healthy 41 points and four assists. However, his teammates were unable to pick up the slack. Kev (six points, five rebounds, five assists) and Tactuk (four points, 13 rebounds) each put together respectable performances, but the team came up short once again.

Bash once again led the charge for the Sacramento squad with 32 points and six assists. Dat Boy Shotz was held in check during Game 1 at the power forward spot, but he moved to center for the second game and picked up 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lakers showed promise in their first series of the season, but they were unable to finish in either contest Thursday, letting two first-half leads slip away. They will complete Week 1 with a matchup against Gen.G Tigers on Friday. Kings Guard Gaming overcame their sluggish start to the season and finish Week 1 at 1-1.
