Grizz Gaming (6-6) kept its playoff hopes alive with a dramatic 52-49 win over 76ers Gaming Club (7-5) on Wednesday during Week 10 of the NBA 2K League.

Grizz Gaming won only six games last season, losing a heartbreaking game in triple overtime despite AuthenticAfrican’s league-record 84 points. This year, while the point record remains comfortably safe, AuthenticAfrican came up big to vanquish some team demons as the Grizz stay in the hunt for a playoff spot. Double-A scored 22 points and picked up eight boards, three assists, four steals and a block as he led his team to the win in the fourth quarter, scoring several key baskets and creating crucial stops in the last two minutes of the game. Vandi scored 19 points on good shooting while DDouble and Jayrod were disruptive on defense throughout the night, holding the 76ers to just 18 second-half points as the Grizz erased an eight-point deficit at the half. The Grizz have a difficult path to the playoffs ahead, playing teams like Blazer5 Gaming and Mavs Gaming, but this team can win on any given night if AuthenticAfrican can come alive like he did Wednesday.

76ers Gaming Club still has a decent shot at reaching the playoffs at 7-5, currently good for fifth place, but needs to start picking up wins late in the season. ZDS and Radiant each put in 16 points but struggled to find consistency, with ZDS shooting just six-for-16 while Radiant coughed up five turnovers. BreadwinnerLA only had two points, Newdini33 had nine points, and Steez only put in six points and 10 rebounds. With AuthenticAfrican playing great defense on the pick-and-roll, the 76ers simply couldn’t find the good looks they wanted. Outshooting the Grizz 43-to-35 is usually a recipe for success, but the 76ers just simply couldn’t convert as they take home a painful loss.
