Celtics Crossover Wins 5th Straight

June 20, 2019

Celtics Crossover Gaming (6-5) pulled off a big 81-58 upset win over Mavs Gaming (11-2) on Thursday during Week 9 of the NBA 2K League.

One of these teams entering this game was the number one team in the league, while the other was a team stacked with talent and winners of its last four straight, but was suffering from a weak start to the year. The Celtics managed to sail on the back of the player of the match; ProFusion, who scored 30 points on 12-of-13 shooting. Coming out strong in the first quarter, the Celtics Crossover delivered the equivalent of a sucker punch to the Mavs, scoring nearly at whim. Meanwhile, on the other end of the floor, the Celtics defense smothered Mavs Gaming, with MEL EAST putting clamps on Dimez and company. Sometimes, everything just comes together in a perfect storm, leading to the Celtics winning by 23 points and making a statement to the rest of the league.

The Mavs got outplayed, simple as that. Dimez put in 18 points and eight assists, but got smothered defensively and committed seven turnovers. Upstart center PeteBeBallin put in 12 points and nine rebounds, but was limited all night as NO xAUTOGRAPHSx was breathing down his neck all night. Apart from those two players, the rest of the Mavs didn’t do much on offense. Sure, Mo had 15 points, but most of them came in garbage time. When this team goes down 44-23 at the half, you would expect some fire coming out of the break, which did happen to a certain extent. Scoring 35 in the second half is usually fine if your team had a solid first half and played good defense throughout, but when you come out flat and let the Celtics dominate you, these kind of stomps are bound to happen.
