Mavs Gaming Handle Kings Guard Gaming Test

May 31, 2019

Mavs Gaming remained undefeated Friday with a dominant 69-40 victory over Kings Guard Gaming in the 2K League.

It was wire-to-wire dominance from Mavs Gaming (10-0) on Friday night, as the team atop the standings still felt like they had a lot to prove entering the contest. Having played a fairly light schedule through the first six weeks of the regular season, this was viewed as the team’s first real test of the 2019 season, and they certainly answered the call.

Mavs Gaming opened up the game making 14 of their first 16 field goal attempts heading into the second quarter and opened up a 13-point lead over Kings Guard Gaming (7-3) midway through the period. Kings Guard did manage to get the lead down to nine points before halftime, but that was as close as they were going to get.

Mavs Gaming came out in the second half ready to bury their opponents, starting the third quarter on a 9-0 run and putting the game completely out of reach by holding Kings Guard to just four points in the period.

While they were dominant on offense, the key to Mavs Gaming’s victory came on the defensive end, as they held Kings Guard’s superstar rookie point guard Bp to only seven points on 3-of-13 shooting and just six assists. Mavs Gaming constantly threw double teams at him and it essentially shut down Kings Guard’s offense entirely.

Meanwhile, Mavs Gaming’s point guard Dimez put together his best performance of the season, scoring a season-high 29 points on 13-of-16 shooting and dishing out 10 assists. Four of the five Mavs Gaming players scored in double figures as the team as a whole was scorching hot from the field, shooting 31-of-41 (75.6) percent from the floor.

With Bp struggling Kings Guard Gaming could never get into any sort of rhythm offensively, shooting a miserable 18-of-43 (41.9 percent) from the field. Small forward BallLikeSeem led the way with 15 points, while center worthingcolt posted yet another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds as the only other Kings Guard player to reach double figures. The loss Friday put an end to the team’s six-game winning streak.
