Warriors Silence Pacers Gaming

May 29, 2019

Warriors Gaming (7-3) continued its winning ways Wednesday with a 52-47 win over fellow league-leader Pacers Gaming (5-2) during Week 7 of the NBA 2K League.

The Warriors have been on a tear as of late, playing well and bouncing back after getting upset by the Bucks last week. Shooting guard Bsmoove led all scorers with 19 points on eight-of-14 shooting while locking down Pacers’ scoring ace Swizurk all night long, perhaps proving that he is the best shooting guard in the entire league. Type had a big night in the paint, putting up a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double. Speaking of rebounds, when you’ve got a 29-to-13 lead in rebounding, it’s substantially easier to win games, particularly when your star defender is locking down the other team’s top-five scorer. The Warriors had a great game plan for how to deal with the Pacers’ offense and had the right personnel to make it happen, something which few other teams in the league can say. As the Warriors keep rolling on, it’s looking increasingly more difficult to stop this team as it tries to contend for a top-3 finish.

The Pacers were on a roll coming into this game as well, but didn’t have much recourse in the face of the Warriors’ defensive schemes. Swizurk scored a team-high 14 points on five-of-12 shooting, one-of-five from beyond the arc, and had to deal with Bsmoove in his pocket all night long. The only other Pacer to reach double digit scoring was Ramo, who put up 11 points along with 10 rebounds for the double-double. With both teams’ star players holding each other accountable, it was up to the supporting cast to help the Pacers secure the win, but to no avail. Getting out-rebounded and out-hustled, the Pacers offense sputtered and got laid bare. While the vaunted Pacers’ defense held the Warriors offense to 13 points a quarter, the lack of offense meant that it dug a hole it simply couldn’t climb out of.
