Grizz Gaming (2-4) defeated T-Wolves Gaming (3-5) by a score of 65-52 on Thursday in Week 5 of 2K League action.

The Grizz got off to a great start in this one, climbing to a 12-5 lead with the help of some hot shooting. As a team, they knocked down five of their first six shots from the field, including two of three from downtown. The T-Wolves, on the other hand, struggled shooting the basketball in the first quarter, converting on just three-of-nine attempts from the field. Grizz Gaming carried a 14-10 lead into the second stanza.

The Grizz continued to play solid defense in the second quarter, forcing the T-Wolves into taking tough shots. T-Wolves Gaming finally managed to show some signs of life with a few minutes remaining in the half, and they cut the deficit down to one before the Grizz scored a few quick buckets. After two quarters of play, the Grizz clung to a one-point lead. Despite some disappointing play, the T-Wolves were right in the mix with the help of 13 points from BearDaBeast and eight points from JMoneyRep817, who was acquired from Heat Check Gaming on Monday in exchange for Hood. JMondayRep817 also dished out four assists in the first half, making an immediate impact for his new squad.

The Grizz went on a 13-6 run to open up the third stanza, giving themselves an eight-point cushion. They went on to hit a big three with under a minute remaining to head into the final six minutes with a 51-41 lead. Both teams experienced some sloppy play in the fourth period, though the T-Wolves couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities and failed to make a run in the last few minutes. Grizz Gaming outscored their opponent in three of four quarters on the way to a 65-52 victory. They won the turnover battle 14-9 and outshot the T-Wolves by a wide margin — the Grizz knocked down 28-of-45 attempts from the field (9-for-18 from three) compared to 20-of-38 from the field (5-for-14 from three) for the T-Wolves. Grizz Gaming got contributions across the board, as all five starters finished in double figures. Vandi and Jayrod led the way with 15 points apiece, DDouble finished with 14, AuthenticAfrican registered 12 points (along with 13 rebounds) and UniversalPhenom had 11 points. This was a big win for the Grizz, who entered the night 1-4 in regular-season play. BearDaBeast poured in a team-high 18 points for the T-Wolves, while Feast scored 12 and JMoneyRep817 put up 10 points in the losing effort.
