KingQuai614 Cleans Up Glass in Win

April 25, 2019

Raptors Uprising GC took home the win over NetsGC by a score of 54-42 to cap off Thursday’s Week 3 action. This marks the second victory of the week for the Raptors, who secured a 64-59 victory Wednesday over T-Wolves Gaming. The Nets will have another shot to earn a win this week when they take on Blazer5 Gaming on Friday.

The Raptors started this one by committing a turnover on their first possession of the ballgame, and the Nets took advantage by knocking down a mid-range jumper to kick off the scoring. Following a dunk by the Raps, the score remained 2-2 for the next several minutes before Kenny Got Work hit a trey for Raptors Uprising. Another quick dunk by the Raptors forced NetsGC to call their first timeout of the contest. At the end of a sloppy first period, Raptors Uprising GC held a 17-4 advantage with the help of a late run. The Nets got off to a horrendous start, hitting on just two-of-nine attempts from the field while committing three turnovers.

The Raptors continued to control the boards in the second stanza and it helped them get out to a 32-14 lead heading into the second half. The Raps were led by Kenny Got Work in the scoring column (13 points), although KingQuai614 also played a key role by securing 12 first-half rebounds while adding four points, three assists and two blocks. The only member of the Nets who found any success was Lav, who scored 10 of his team’s 14 points through two quarters.

The situation didn’t get much better for the Nets in the third quarter, as the Raptors scored at will and managed to maintain a comfortable lead. Raptors Uprising GC carried a 16-point lead into the final six minutes of play. NetsGC made a late push in the fourth period and cut the lead down to 11 points with three to play, but it was a case of too-little, too late, and the Raptors came away with a convincing 54-42 victory.

KingQuai614 became the first player of the season to snag 20 boards, and his effort on the glass certainly was one of the keys to victory for the Raptors. He also scored 10 points on four-of-five shooting from the field. Kenny Got Work finished with 18 points and OOC Slim tallied 11 points in the win. For the Nets, Lav led the offensive charge with 14 points, although he sank just two-of-seven attempts from beyond the arc. Wavy.zay nearly notched a double-double, accumulating 13 points and nine assists in an uninspiring performance from his squad.
